Tribeca 2026. The 25th anniversary of the festival. An honor of a lifetime. I can’t thank @davygardner , @starbright114 , and @kblu_skies enough for giving me this opportunity, and @nicholewthanh for being the greatest moderator I could have ever had up there.

The Vodou Project is an audio documentary produced by Baudelaire. This man is using his free will to reframe Vodou in a way that pushes back on all the distortion from colonialism and pop culture.
The Tribeca Festival was a direct result of your passion and consistency.

“The first step toward having people change is to try to change their minds. To inform them, give them some information about your perspective. Tell them how you see things and why you feel the way you do as opposed to what theyre being bombarded with all the time.”

For the past three years, I’ve been working on The Vodou Project. A nine-episode documentary series tracing the history of Haitian Vodou.

The series follows Vodou from West Africa to Haiti, and across the diaspora—from New Orleans Voodoo to Santería—while examining how it came to be labeled as something “demonic,” and the roles of U.S. history and pop culture in shaping that narrative.

Along the way, it also becomes personal. And it helps me reckon with the passing of a few of my own family members throughout the past twenty years.

Through this project I’ve created something to honor my ancestors and, in doing so, built a deeper connection to them.

This project is taking every bit of me to craft. And I’m still in the middle of building it. But it’s also been one of the greatest joys of my life. To date, this is my life’s work.

With all that being said, I’m honored to share that The Vodou Project will be part of the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival.

Check the link in my bio to hear the trailer and pilot episode for the series. Or search “The Vodou Project” wherever you get your podcasts.

Today my first fully produced episode of Atlas Obscura is out! Last October I started as a full time podcast producer within @stitcherpodcasts with the @witnessdocs label and I’ve been working on a couple different shows but today, finally, something I’ve made since I joined the team is out! Make sure y’all subscribe to “Atlas Obscura” wherever you listen to podcasts and check me out! I’m even more proud that my first episode is taking us all back to the motherland🌍 and shining light on an African Empire we should’ve all heard about in school. Also, at the end of the episode make sure you go and listen to Bob Marley’s “Zimbabwe”.🇿🇼

These past few years have been rough for Haiti and Haitians who keep a connection with our beloved homeland. Since the recent earthquake I’ve decided that the money I had raised two years ago should be sent to Haiti via the most reputable and transparent organization I could find. Today I have found that organization, and it is @hopeforhaiti. They are currently providing earthquake relief in Les Cayes, a place where they have already been working for decades. Hope For Haiti provided a summary of their response and recovery efforts that I have linked in my bio. They also have multiple videos posted to their YouTube and even a podcast to keep people posted on what is happening with the money donated. Now on to Haitians for Haiti. My original plan for the trip had been postponed first by political turmoil and then Covid restrictions but I want it to be known that even though all money raised to this point is being sent to HopeForHaiti, the volunteer trip to Haiti will still happen as soon as I can assure that it is safe to do so. It means more than you may ever know that so many people believed in my vision for the volunteer trip and I do not take that lightly. I just began to feel selfish that almost $5,000 rested in a bank account waiting for my idea to be possible to execute. Today I made the final decision to get the money to my people immediately. I hope you understand that decision.

When I was in the eleventh grade, I read an excerpt from Richard Wright’s (pictured above) book, Black Boy. I read it again after I finished my bachelors, and again last summer. Each time I read the book it shook up the world beneath my feet and for that reason I credit Black Boy more than any other book for shaping my current world-view. Last week I wrapped up my Masters program when I finished my thesis titled “Black Men: Richard & I” where I write about the importance of seeing one’s self in canonical (the books held in high regard that you come across in school) literature. I do this by analyzing my relationship with Black Boy as a text, and Richard Wright as a writer. You can read my thesis on bauknows.com (link in bio) and go to the dropdown and go to “The Blog”.

Black Boy provided for me a reflection of myself that validated my existence and more than anything I hope you all come across a book (it may not be this one) that does the same for you. 🤲🏿 taken in The Wilderness Of North America by @bauknows
