💖My copy of Incandescent arrived!💖 I did the cover art as well as an interior piece.
I rarely draw in a manga style, but for the cover I emulated the shoujo style of art, particularly the mark-making that is done with a maru/mapping dip pen nib with halftone effects. I really wanted to tap into that old 2000s traditional, hand-drawn manga feel. I chose to show some common weapon wielders across the genre (archers, swordswomen, wand bearers), with special emphasis placed on the two series that really started the magical girl legacy: Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura.
I don’t really watch anime anymore, but I loved the magical girl genre growing up, particularly Tokyo Mew Mew. I used to rent the books at the library and watch the show in segmented parts on YouTube. TMM, Sailor Moon, and many other mahou shoujo stories still have a special place in my heart.
As for the zine, it is always so cool to see something come back in print. Shout out to Holly and her team at @magicalgirlszine2024 for organizing this project and making it all happen. It was a great experience, and I think we’re all really happy with the final result.
Preorders are closed now, but some leftovers will be listed online at magicalgirlszine2024.bigcartel.com along with the digital version of the zine, which is available now 💕

💥Finally finished my Power Girl fanart! Ft. swanky new costume design by @margueritesauvage ✨ After over a decade, PG finally has a new series announced!! 🙌🙌🙌 I can’t wait to see what’s in store (and I would LOVE to do a cover for it! 😁) Also shout out to @alicjanai for the coloring brushes! I wanted to try out a lighter style of rendering, and these worked GREAT.

✏️First pencil drawing in a long time. Feels good to get back into it. Now that Power Girl is back on the shelves again, I had to do a tribute. I picked up the PG Special last week by @margueritesauvage @handaxe @mlillustration @ms_brittanyjean and I loved it. I’ve been following her new story in #actioncomics and it’s so good to see my fav girl in the limelight again with such a great creative team. It looks like she might finally get another series??? 👀

Long time, no see! I’ve been busy w a new job so I haven’t been drawing as much, but most of what I have been doing has been for weddings! This is a different style from my usual comic art, but I’m going to offer it for commissions eventually. For now though I’m taking a little break 😅✌️

🟣 When the NUMBER 2 scientist won’t stop giving you a hard time 🙄💅🟣
Getting back into the swing of things 😮‍💨
Consider this a sequel to the Moira post I made last year. I kind of went a different route with the rendering and I really like how it turned out✨
