backpacked haystack and basin for my 22nd birthday weekend ⛰️🌀

lots of butterflies, alpine flowers, swimming holes and wind that almost knocked me off my feet. i'm so grateful to be able to go here every year and live in this beautiful state :')

even before i went to college i knew that i wanted to be a radio broadcaster and a DJ to share my love of music with others. from the first moment in the mall when eboard threw a CD at me and yelled for me to join the organization in freshman year, i knew @kamp_radio was going to be a place i could always call home at u of a.

i loved it so much i joined a community in sydney, australia called @surgfm after scheming my way to usyd as a uts study abroad student. it was genuinely such a random story how i got into that but we can save it for another time. they made me feel so incredibly welcome and i once again found my people there-- friends who helped support my DJ career and create a truly unique atmosphere filled with so much good music and joy. i miss you guys btw.

i truly don't know what my life would look like if student radio wasn't part of my life. it allowed so many doors to be opened for me like doing photography and media at events like decadence/other raves i could have never even imagined working!

although there have been immense ups and downs and we have suffered immense loss this year with the loss of sophia, it's reminded me of how important these types of communities are in our lives and how we can harness them to support our dreams and stand together in hard (and amazing) times. i will continue to reflect upon the experiences ive had, the friends ive made and the crazy amounts of goated playlists ive curated (no, seriously if you didnt listen to my show).

RIP .WAV RADIO for now, maybe grad school will prompt your revival. congrats if you made it to the end of this caption!! 🪩🎧🎚️ by @baybfae
