Feeling the August Blues? This New Moon in Leo is a special one. The solar eclipse starts off eclipse season. Six planets will also align in the pre dawn sky. Gather with us on this dark night and dip altar candles, craft anointing oils and meet your community of like-minded folk as we celebrate what our grandmother's knew and trusted - how to move with earth's rhythm and not against it. This is a free event but I encourage you to bring something for the group that your grandmother would <3. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. The Core Collection as Apartments -

Today, I did a lil solo Bookstore Crawl thru my neighborhood in the Quarter, without the phone, and my favorite book i found was Private Paris : Parisian apartments from 1989. Thumb thru the rest in store in the Tiny Living Room at Bayou Rose.

This Snail in the Kitchen is *obviously* Marsh My Mellow. A woodsy gourmand : milky, damp, subtly sweet, and musky. Slightly animalic with a predominant meringue accord that I personally LOVE. Very snail trail across a kitchen counter strewn with spilt milk.

This is Delta Dawn to me. One of my first ever, and just a gorgeous wild rose with notes of sweet pepper bush and sea lettuce that remind you the bayou isn't far away. "Faded rose from days gone by" really fits this table.

At first i thought "Midcentury", but then I thought about WHO lives here and this is Fine Shrine. Someone who holds the tension between minimalism and maximalism. Who likes their desk to be workable, but see everything that visually inspires them every day and lives in rhythm with that natural light from the skylights. THIS is their sanctuary.

OK, this is Secret Garden. Not technically in the Core Collection but now in stock year round because yall love her so much. If this doesn't give Misselthwaite Manor, then I need to just hang it up right now.

La Vie Boheme. This apartment HAS to be in Montmartre. The person who lives here has a half packed/half unpacked suitcase and is living minimally purely because they'd rather find it on the street and spend their money on a good bottle of wine and a lux dinner with friends than furnish their space with finery. Whoever lives here smokes an occasional cigarette in the bathtub and understands the importance of a heavy glass with two cubes and two fingers of a fine spirit sipped slowly, rippin' a favorite record, track for track. I am her. She is me. We are all together. (spoiler alert : that record is the OG Rent Broadway Cast recording. You. Me. You. Mimi.)

Midcentury ten toes down. Think plastic covered furniture, wood paneling, found vinyl that skips your favorite songs so you're forced to find deep cuts. Heavy glass ashtrays, lingering tobacco smoke. You're al taken in Bayou Rose - Candle Studio & Perfume Bar by @bayou_rose

Yes, this is chewy and dense. Verbose, even. TL;DR: I’m hosting a salon in the Quarter that would make your Nonna’s nonna proud.

The Tiny Living Room at Bayou Rose is having its first Tiny Show featuring original drawings and prints by Noelle Richard.

This is the RARE occasion that some of their original pen and ink drawings are OUT of the studio and up in real life. And they are impressive. Their line work and steady hand, especially on this small scale is freaking outrageous.

Noelle Richard is an illustrator and printmaker from the Midwest, based in the Gulf South. They've self-published over a dozen artist books and zines over the years, in addition to having their work featured in numerous indie publications.
When Noelle’s not drawing, they’re either sitting on a curb outside a coffee shop or on a road trip – or, ideally, both.

Oh, to be a candle baking in the sun while the crazy owner lady takes her sweet time to capture you on film! These little guys have been in the shop but they've never made their debut on the socials. This three pack of classics will be on the site soon! The perfume bar is closed while we play catch up, but will be back up to snuff on Thursday! Thanks for hangin' with me thru the wildest opening year ever. Named for “Isle Derniere”, once a famed resort amongst the Southern elite that was swallowed by the sea on August 10, 1856.

Last Island is a requiem - for the opulence built on stolen labor, for the ancestors who prayed for a reckoning, and for the storm that came. In 1856, the Gulf rose up and claimed the island, erasing the veritable playground of the privileged.

The land is now part of the Isle Dernières Barrier Islands Refuge, a protected wildlife sanctuary vital for nesting birds and coastal preservation. Public access is mostly restricted to protect the fragile ecosystem and some of the last barrier islands that stand between Southeast Louisiana and a hurricane. What was once a symbol of elite Southern leisure is now a quiet stronghold of nature reclaiming its place.
