@pueblobonito shot on @kodak film, processed locally by @bedfordtulsa 🌴🇲🇽

Uhhh shooting on real film is so amazing I don’t think I can go back. So I think from now on, I’m only posting photos taken on my mom’s ‘95 35mm Canon Sure Shot 80 Tele.

“And so for his crimes against the Olympians, Zeus condemned Atlas to stand at the western edge of the earth and hold up the sky on his shoulders.”

Little did I know when I snapped this photo at the Tulsa Christmas parade, six months later, I would notice the Atlas Life building looming over Josh as he holds our world on his shoulders.

Atlas often resembles endurance. Which I find interesting, as the incredible task of holding up the sky was a punishment. So then I asked myself the question, “why didn’t Atlas just let go?” Well, If Atlas were to drop the sky, it would kill everyone including his mother and daughters. Explaining why this punishment is one of endurance.

I find parenthood to be the ultimate test of endurance. But I am privileged. I have an enduring partner. One who doesn’t give up when I snap at him or when his daughter melts down because two seconds ago she wanted a strawberry and now she wants blueberries.

Fatherhood is endurance. Showing up day after day. Practicing patience and communication. But most of all it’s understanding that if you drop the sky, it could have devastating consequences.

Thank you @josh_guirl for your endurance. Happy Father’s Day. by @baytag
