so i pulled this album from the crates recently which i reviewed for the original - and back then german only - version of my website nitestylez.de in 2003.

in those days i used to get sent promotional sound carriers on a regular by the press x promo x public relations department of the now long time defunct distributor operating under the name of efa medien.

and btw - this album includes contributions by @normanjwestberg and @bugmanldn.

so i'm not really sure when and how this happened but it seems like the canadian #jazz scene has picked up on my website nitestylez.de recently.

this album came in from #halifax a few days ago and therefore enters the review pipeline.

there was a time when upfront #whitelabel promos appeared in my postbox with hand-written notes on a regular.

another 12" yours truly quasi-inherited from a retiring dj friend's collection recently. and one that checked another record off of a five digit deep wantlist.

file under: heavy and jacking, in parts #acid-infused peak time #techno for fogged out warehouse raves.

so i've recently quasi-inherited this 12" from a retiring dj friend who's massively scaling down his collection and it's a particularly curious one.

the a-side is a rather cheap - and in my opinion also failed - attempt to force a sample nicked from #herbiehancock into a #breakbeat x #rave context which doesn't do anything for me but the b-side has a cheesy charm which screams 1993 in capitals and therefore triggers a certain spot for me. very lo-fi and raw but having been an aspiring teenage raver at the time it was released i still remember the overall vibe and the fact that many records felt exactly like that in those days.
