Several months ago, I went to see the Greater Sage-Grouse lek. It is always such a spectacular event to witness, and this day was no exception. The rising sun behind this individual flooded my lens with light and made for such a unique shot.

Citreoline Trogon. It was a great experience to watch and photograph such a handsome bird in the morning light.

A rather sleepy fox. Most of my photos require a great deal of time and effort, but this one was just about as easy as they get. I was sitting at my kitchen table doing homework when this stunning fox walked right by the window. I watched it for a while and eventually it curled up to take a nap. I was able to grab my camera, take some photos, watch it for a little while longer, and return to my homework in a matter of minutes!

A few of the MANY bear photos I took over the summer. This Coastal Alaskan Brown Bear spent the day chasing around spawning salmon. This bear wasn’t the most successful hunter, but still managed to catch a couple salmon while we were watching.

Everyone loves puffins, and it is easy to see why! These social birds not only look quirky, but are incredibly charismatic. The half day I got to spend on Maine’s Eastern Egg Rock for a @hogislandaudubon camp, was not only incredibly informative but was a great way to observe these birds up close without disturbing them.

Another post from Texas, this Black-bellied Whistling-Duck was resting underneath a cypress in San Antonio. I love the wispy reflection off of the water.

A trip to Texas’s Rio Grande Valley in mid-March produced many great bird encounters. One of my favorites was watching the spectacularly colored Green Jays, this is my favorite photo I took of these birds.
