Crashed the French Woods field trip to Schmigadoon and the pre-show Target takeover. Got lots of hugs. One week to the second visiting day but I appreciated the bonus hugs. Target definitely had extremely positive same store sales today in the candy and snack department 😂 Schmigadoon was cute and it was fun watching the hundreds of kids on the field trip react and see what resonated with them. Anna Gasteyer was the standout of the show for me… she gave a great performance. Miss my baby now but next weekend back in the Woods in Hancock, NY. ❤️ by @bbarshay

Session 2 Visiting Day! A little tap, a little modern, a little Rock n Roll, and can you believe it… even more Matilda (this time as Amanda). A funny thing happens when your Matilda call time is 20 minutes after your rock band set time… sometimes you just have to rock out those Y2K jams (Killers and Weezer) in pigtails. Here’s the last of my many catch-up posts this week! Since so many people are asking following the graduation post 👩‍🎓… what’s next is that Sienna is super excited to be heading in the fall to Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in the Drama Department. Of the dozens of programs and schools that we looked at last year, this was the one that really made her heart sing. She ranked it at the top of her list, but since they told us they received over 1000 audition tapes for just 30 spots… we certainly weren’t counting on it, but we were so thrilled when it did work out for her.

The lit major in me can’t help but mention some absolutely crazy foreshadowing that occurred in the fall of 2016, when I had the honor of meeting Tony Bennett, the school’s founder. He was on a book tour for his autobiography and he didn’t want to talk about his singing career as much as he wanted to talk about this school he had founded in his hometown of Astoria, Queens, where they were striving for the perfect balance of academic rigor and intense arts training in a beautiful state of the art building, intentionally designed for this very purpose. Sienna was in her second year of preschool, and high school was literally the furthest thing from my mind. I was all, “why does he want to talk about this?” Anyway, 10/10 for foreshadowing… and isn’t life funny sometimes? Excited for Sienna’s next chapter 🎭 even as I am kind of still kind of mourning the last chapter. by @bbarshay
