Hertfordshire-based Propstore said an acoustic guitar played by Noel Gallagher at Oasis's famous MTV Unplugged performance set the "highest price achieved at auction for an Oasis acoustic guitar"🎶🎸

The sale was part of a £2.5m day for the auction house, with collectors also snapping up a handwritten lyrics notebook belonging to Freddie Mercury and a military-style jacket worn by Michael Jackson.

Mark Hochman, the company's music specialist, said: "Setting a world record with Noel Gallagher's MTV Unplugged guitar is a fantastic result and a testament to the lasting connection fans have with Oasis."

One of the biggest water companies in England has warned that drought conditions could continue into 2027.

Anglian Water, which supplies services to around seven million customers across the East of England, said this year’s back-to-back heatwaves had been exacerbated by a “severe” lack of rain.

Levels at its Grafham Water reservoir in Cambridgeshire stand at 60% of full capacity, almost 30% lower than where they should be.

Laura Tuplin, water resources manager at Anglian Water, explained the situation had been made worse by low groundwater and river levels.

“The rivers we abstract from are very low so we can’t take water from some of them to protect the environment,” she said.

“What we need is a prolonged period of rainfall.”

A train involved in a fatal crash had accelerated past a red signal that was rarely ever on, investigators have found.

Train driver Shaun Burton, 60, died and more than 160 people were injured when his London-bound service crashed into the back of another train on 19 June at Elstow, near Bedford.

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch, has found the signal had not displayed a red light to any train before the crash during 2026.

The latest interim report said CCTV had shown the signal had displayed red correctly, and Burton had acknowledged it, but he had continued to accelerate and applied brakes only seconds before hitting the other train, which had earlier come to a stop.

From Hertfordshire to The Traitors castle 👀👏

Genevieve Sweeney, who is based near Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, has spoken of her "utter surprise" as Claudia Winkleman wore one of her woven creations for the publicity shots for the BBC's Celebrity Traitors show.

She was told two months ago it would be worn for the show, but said she "never imagined for a minute that it would be in this iconic look for the main press imagery".

When the shots dropped - SURPRISE! 😮

A magical transformation in Buckinghamshire 👀
Latimer has been transported back to the 1990s for filming believed to be connected to the new Harry Potter television series.

Residents were told earlier this month that Plum Jam Productions, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery, would be filming a major HBO series there over three days.

Only emergency vehicles were permitted access on Tuesday, while the set is due to be dismantled on Wednesday.

Some villagers said they had been "cut off", with traffic diverted along a narrow, unlit country road that becomes easily congested.

A piece of Superman memorabilia signed by the late actor Christopher Reeve is being auctioned by a charity after being found "hiding in plain sight" at its office for more than 40 years.

The wooden commemorative key had been hanging on the wall of Age UK's Milton Keynes building, which had served as a production base for Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.

Scenes for the 1987 movie saw Reeve dangled above Milton Keynes Central Station in his superhero costume.

The key has been valued at £2,500, although the auction house, Goldin Auctions in the United States, believed it could fetch a higher price because of its "unusual provenance".
