After 15 years of trying to figure out what to do with my life and decide what career I wanted to pursue I finally graduated with my bachelors in business with a concentration in accountancy. I never gave up even when I felt like I had no path I tried so many different subjects (even tried accounting back in 2012 and hated it) I just didn’t have the right mindset tbh. I lost my Papa shortly after I graduated high school and he was the only one who talked to me about continuing my education. Without him I felt lost but knew I had to make it happen. I tried marketing, accounting, cosmetology school, engineering, computer science, graphic design…you name it I probably tried it. I got put on probation for bad grades a few times even got dismissed twice but I kept going and switched schools. I tried a bunch more different possible fields and nothing spoke to me until I went to my first @edc_lasvegas in 2021. I wondered how much it cost to put this huge event together and who was this team that figured it all out. I came home after checked insomnias career site and saw they had a position in accounting. I saw they wanted at least 3-5 years experience and a bachelors degree. I didn’t even have my associates at the time. I dropped my science courses for that fall and started accounting courses spring 2022. I had an amazing professor Suzy who told me about an internship which I applied to an got in (Jan 2023) and was blessed enough to be hired on at the firm after the 3 month internship was over (I still work there now 🥹) I got my associates in the summer of 2023. I had applied to @sacstate and UNLV got in to both but decided to stay here since I had a great job in the field I was pursuing at a top 40 accounting firm (#38). I’ve been able to gain so much experience and attend school full time which I never imagined to be possible. I still fumbled a bit as the transition from cc to university was a little rough the course load and having to be in every class was nothing like community college lol. I got a few Ds and had to retake the courses I got discouraged and the enemy (my mind) started to make me question if this was right for me and if I could even make i by @bbchillona
