10 years ago today! This young buck had no idea what the hell he was doing in the mortgage business, and it showed! I failed hard, joined a team, worked endless hours studying the business and then finally broke through. Here are the 3 things I would tell myself 10 years ago:

1. Don’t be frozen to take action because you aren’t yet an “expert”. I see this time and time again with many people in business. They feel they aren’t good enough, smart enough, or as knowledgeable as a top producer in their business. The main difference I’ve noticed: top producers take action. They don’t wait until they are ready, they take calculated risks and pivot as needed.

2. Fail at things quicker. I remember the first class I sponsored I had to give a quick 60 second elevator pitch on me and our company in front of 50 agents. I froze at the podium… like legit froze and forgot what I memorized and stood there for 30 seconds. I failed, but that moment made me better. It may be embarrassing to fail, but you’ll be better in the long run than someone that stays in their comfort zone.

3. Network. Network with anyone and everyone. You never know when someone you meet will become a lifelong friend or give you an opportunity you’d only dream of when you first started.

This career has given me so much in a short 10 year period, and I’m excited to see what the next 10 have to offer. by @bbialkowski
