One week ago I returned from my mission trip to Cuba.
These pictures are just a tiny sample of everything I experienced.
Here’s a few fun facts:
2700 miles flown
200 miles riding on busses or vans
1 mile riding in an electric rickshaw
6 team members
7 churches visited
Hundreds of candies and glow bands shared
1 motorcycle donated
Hundreds of lives impacted (including my own)
When most people travel to a tropical island, they show pics of lazy days by a pool or beach. I did get a bit of that. But, I also got so much more.
I had the opportunity to really meet the heart of Cuban life and feel the “Familia factor”.
These people’s love of Jesus, life, and for each other is incredible.
The Bible says give and you shall receive. That’s so true. I received so much more by giving some of myself to my new friends.
I was also reminded that it’s not important how much you have, it’s who you have.
Friend, if you are looking for real happiness, share some of yourself with someone else with no expectation for anything in return.
I thank God and Jesus for this trip, having safe travels, and being blessed by the people I was with.

I got a hiking twofer for the first day of October. The Helen B. Katz Pond Trail and the Bessemer Trail.

The leaves were still mostly green. Hints of fall colors were peeking out though.

Fairview homecoming parade
I love the feeling of community and pride that you get in small towns.

Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park. 1st time visit, but not the last time. This is a fun little park with lots of rocks and waterfalls to explore. We visited because of the glass bridge that it’s known for. The bridge was nice and fun to walk on. But, it didn’t compare to the other natural rock formations and pretty waterfalls in the rest of the park.

DC comics in real comic books!
I saw this at a local Dollar Tree and felt like I was transported back in time. Back to a time when comics were printed on paper and they didn’t cost an arm and a leg to buy one.

Hats off to Dollar Tree for making me feel like a kid again.

Some people focus on national parks and miss great state parks. Some people go to state parks and miss fine local parks. And then there are the preserves and forests. Many miss their simple beauty and serenity.
