Before episode one of @restaurant.influencers we had already published over 150 episodes of @digitalhospitalitypodcast

All those conversations taught me something. How to listen, how to follow my curiosity, how to ask a better question.

On January 11, 2022, we launched our second podcast, Restaurant Influencers.

We just recorded episode 251 with @dhmeyer someone whose work helped shape how I think about hospitality.

Behind that moment were years of preparation and a team that kept showing up with me.

You develop your voice by using it, you get better at interviewing by interviewing, you build trust by doing what you said you would do, again and again.

Quantity builds quality, consistency builds trust.

Comforting place, staring into the abyss while the sun burns down into the horizon.

Years ago I learned the importance of sunrise gratitude. Understanding we should celebrate every sunrise we are lucky enough to witness.

Like so many in the Portland Hardcore scene of the late 1990s, I was lucky to witness the might of @berzerk_pdx on stage. They were great back then, full of youthful energy and lovely chaos. But now, somehow, they’re even more powerful.

I was lucky enough to be there in the audience when I was a teenager at a very impressionable time. Now I’m in my 40s and I found myself drawn back to the front row for their beautiful 30th anniversary show last weekend. It made me feel 30 years younger. That’s something I don’t feel much these days.

My sport of choice is working in my yard. Yesterday was what they call an “atmospheric river” in these parts. While today is blue skies and sunshine.

This sudden change in mood is something that I resonate with.

PS - children and so many others are going hungry right now near you so please give back anyway you can. We have decided to skip Thanksgiving dinner this year so we can give the money we would have spent on food to a local family in need. taken in Gresham, Oregon by @bbqhunk
