As Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) works to attract international investors, it aims to build a financial system supported by strong institutions, clear regulations and modern technology. The Chairman of Gelephu Investment Development Corporation shared this vision at a press conference in Gelephu today. <For more details, click the link on @bbsbhutan's Bio> #GelephuMindfulnessCity #bbsbhutan #bbsnews by @bbsbhutan

The report, Demographic Change in South Asia: From Tailwinds to Headwinds for Development, highlights several challenges facing Bhutan. Although the country spends the highest amount per student on education in the region, learning outcomes remain modest. It also finds that one in three women aged 15 to 24 is not in employment, education or training due to family responsibilities. The report notes that while high-productivity firms are creating jobs, employment remains concentrated among a small number of large firms. The World Bank says Bhutan must make better use of its young workforce by expanding productive employment, improving skills and addressing barriers to women's participation in the labour market, while preparing for an ageing population. by @bbsbhutan
