Life’s been pretty crazy this year. But full of some sick experiences as well. I got to sing the national anthem at a BYU Basketball game last week. I’m super grateful for the amazing opportunities that keep getting put in my way, both in music and athletics. At the end of this month of giving thanks I have to express my gratitude for the many people in my life who love and support me. From parents and siblings to teammates and friends, uncles and aunts to cousins and leaders, coaches and trainers to sponsors @smartystreets and my university, I have been blessed beyond what I deserve with the incredible people that have been placed in my life. This has been by far one of the coolest experiences of my life.

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been on the @byucheerandstunt team for the past 6 months. I can honestly say that joining this team was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I never expected to have as much fun as I do, meet as many incredible people as I have, learn and try as many new things as I have, get into the best shape of my life, or love my team and all my teammates as much as I do. I also never expected @jonathan.s.oliver and @smartystreets to come into my and my teammates lives and support us as much as they have. So this happened 4 months ago (I report in 3 days)🇮🇹...
“Elder Buckner, You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You have been assigned to labor in the Italy Milan mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 24 months. You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Italian language.”
I could not be more thrilled to have the opportunity to serve my Heavenly Father for the next 2 years and to testify of His son, Jesus Christ. I have such a strong testimony of service and not only the joy and love that it brings into the lives of others but also of the light of Christ and love of our Heavenly Father that it can bring into our own lives. And I will do my absolute best the next two years to bring that light and love to others as well. I know my Savior lives and loves every single one of us! I promise that if you make Him the center of your lives you will feel more peace and strength than you can possibly imagine. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, and cannot wait to serve Him full-time as one of His set apart servants for the next 2 years!😁 taken in Milan, Italy by @bbuckner99

This is my Dad. He is my hero. He is my greatest example. He is all I aspire to be in this world. He is why I want to serve a mission. He is why I want to be better and to reach higher EVERYDAY. 3 months of waiting, 100s of hours working on applications, 2 dozen hats, 3 1/2 years of seminary, 100 shirts/hoodies, 12 1/2 years of NYC public schooling, hundreds of sports games, 13 summer camps, decades of legacy, 17 years of dreaming, and 1 letter that made my biggest lifelong aspiration come true.
