You know that internet meme about “rubbing two brain cells together”? That’s basically Neuroplasticity at work. It drives creativity by allowing the brain to adapt, form new connections, and link previously unrelated ideas across key neural networks.

Research shows that highly creative individuals often display stronger neural connections between the left and right hemispheres of their brain, which means more original ideas are created. Like any Creative Scientist, you can train your brain to be more creative too by exploring continuous learning, and practices like mindfulness or exercise. Ultimately, leveraging neuroplasticity requires intentional effort like embracing a growth mindset, and being more curious when learning new skills or new facts in order to continually expand creative potential. by @bbxcollab

It’s our love of research and facts that cemented our identity as Creative Scientists. From creating award-winning musical product launches for diabetes medication to planning and executing an international conference and workshop, the science is where we live, and stories are how we communicate.

Nowadays movies have become an innovative science communication format that encourages a wider audience to engage in scientific topics.

During trial events on climate change at the University of Graz and a Salzburg art festival, researcher Fritz Treiber and geophysicist Ulrich Foelsche led discussions using films like The Day After Tomorrow and Mad Max to separate scientific fact from fiction. Results showed that the participants were more receptive to discussing complex scientific concepts after the fact.
