There are some moments in this work that remind me why I love what I do. Today was one of them. 🧡🖤🏀

Boyd H. Anderson High School officially unveiled the Mitch Richmond Court, honoring one of Cobra Nation’s greatest legends.

Mitch Richmond’s story started right here at Boyd Anderson. A Fort Lauderdale kid who found his passion for basketball, worked hard, listened to his coaches and committed himself to the classroom and the game.

That journey took him all the way to six NBA All-Star selections, an Olympic gold medal and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Mitch wasn’t able to be with us today, but his presence was felt throughout the gym. His name will now be a permanent part of the place where his dream began.

I love that this court will serve as a daily reminder to the next generation of Cobras: Your circumstances don’t determine your destination. Your dreams can start right here.

Same halls. Bigger dreams. A legacy that lives on.

What a special day for Cobra Nation. 🧡🖤

🎙️ PLAYMAKERS 🎙️

Today’s Playmakers interviews brought two very different stories of excellence, leadership and what it means to be a student-athlete and coach.

🏐 Isabella Cabrera | St. Thomas Aquinas HS | Junior Libero

Isabella is already making a name for herself on the volleyball court and in the classroom. With a 4.6 GPA, she is an Honor Roll and Dean’s List student, a member of the U21 Venezuelan Selection Team, and the BCAA MVP from the BCAA Big 8 Championship!

She plays club volleyball for Tribe Volleyball’s 17 Vktry Cardinal team, the 2025 National AAU Champions.

And yes, we had a special photo of her dad in the studio today! ⚾️ Isabella’s father is former Marlins and Detroit Tigers superstar Miguel Cabrera, a future first-ballot Hall of Famer.

But today, ISABELLA is our star! ⭐️🏐

🏈 Coach Richard Dunbar | Fort Lauderdale High School

Coach Dunbar is a Flying L through and through. A graduate of Fort Lauderdale High School, he has now spent 20 years coaching at his alma mater. His team is currently undefeated at 6-0!

What stood out most was his philosophy: what happens OFF the field is more important than what happens ON it. For Coach Dunbar, it’s about developing young people, building character and preparing his players for life beyond athletics.

Two Playmakers. Two incredible stories. One common thread: using athletics to build something bigger than the game.

Monday afternoon football! 🏈

A rainout turned into a Monday 4 p.m. makeup game as the South Broward Bulldogs traveled to take on the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Eagles.

The Bulldogs came out on top! 🐾🏈

Different day. Different time. Same opportunity to show up for our student-athletes and celebrate high school football in Broward County!

Friday night football doesn’t get much better than this. 🏈🔥

Chaminade-Madonna went toe-to-toe with the #1 ranked team in the nation, St. Thomas Aquinas, and led for most of the night.

It came down to 4th & goal and a field goal attempt that was BLOCKED, giving St. Thomas the win in the final moments.

What a battle. What a game. What a showcase of high-level football right here in Broward County.

Proud of the way both teams competed, and even prouder of the sportsmanship on display.

✨ BUILT TO SHINE was the theme.✨

And shine they did! 🌟

Today, Pompano Beach High School hosted the FASC District 6 Meeting, bringing SGA representatives from the 954 and 305 together for a day of learning, leadership, and collaboration.

Our student leaders heard from guest speakers, shared service ideas, learned about submitting state resolutions, and explored ways to engage their student bodies more inclusively.

Different schools. Different communities. One shared commitment to leading, serving, and making a difference.

They were BUILT TO SHINE, and today they proved it!
