I have struggled to post about 'Dear Evan Hansen' at @cygnettheatre because a few sentences on social media can't remotely encompass the awe, pride, and gratitude I feel for the company of artists who contributed to this project. Their immense talent, effort, generosity, and kindness are on full display in every performance, and I hope you'll go experience it if you haven't already. I'll be there for Industry Night next Monday, September 28, and tickets are only $25 if you call the box office. Words do indeed fail. #theatre #theater #sandiego #dearevanhansen by @bcbmccarty

Every new musical is a challenge, but the performers in KARAOKE DREAMS couldn't have known what they were getting into. They sing and dance through a 65-song marathon (70 including intermission). But what's more impressive is that they do it with kindness and generosity. Since the first rehearsal, they showed up ready to share their talents, insights, and personal stories. The show is better because of them.

Words can't adequately express my gratitude, awe, and respect. So instead, in the spirit of our show, here's a playlist of songs that were 'cut for time' but make me think of you...

@aidenmeyndert: "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" by Sylvester / For bringing so much heart to a story with personal resonance for me.

@_brit.adriana: "Survivor" by Destiny's Child / For powering through every obstacle.

@brittneyyyytiger: "Bulletproof" by La Roux / You’ve been unflappable and unstoppable since day one.

@colechinn_: "Shut Up and Dance" by Walk the Moon / For never missing an opportunity to show off your improvised moves.

@dacarabutmakeitvintage: "Pure/Honey" by Beyoncé / Since that’s exactly how your voice sounds.

@e.s.pie: "Ready for It?" by Taylor Swift / For swinging into a new role with a resounding “yes I am."

@jalexandermusica: "Leader of the Band" by Dan Fogelberg / Dedicated to our fearless emcee.

@_mattateus_: "Don’t Stop Me Now" by Queen / For stepping outside your comfort zone to an adoring crowd.

@michaelanasellomusic: "Songbird" by Fleetwood Mac / For vocals that make my eyes damp.

@montse_c08: "Oye Mi Canto" by Gloria Estefan / For energizing the room with your voice and presence (even if it's not a 'Mexican song').

@tay.renee.onstage: "Late to the Party" by Kacey Musgraves / Though other commitments kept you from the early days of rehearsal, your presence made the show stronger.

@riathelmalouisesings: "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge / For always leading with your heart.

@robert_bednar: "Teenagers" by My Chemical Romance / We didn’t work together when you were a student, but I’m thrilled we got the chance to collaborate.

@ohshaneanigans: "Ray of Light" by Madonna / Because that’s what you, even while playing multiple antagonists. by @bcbmccarty
