“Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so on the road” - Kerouac by @bcdwg
cynefin & hiraeth • Have you ever remembered a time or place so vividly that it feels grafted to your bones? The Welsh have a few words for that. Emotional polarity captured by language, ensuring that it is not forced only to live in your memories. • I find that to be rather swell 🙏🏼 by @bcdwg
“They were careless people, they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.” • A chance encounter in makȟóšiča, one of stillness and reverence, brought up some raw feelings. My mind and heart swayed to and fro, from notion to emotion, as I sat with these beauties. Strangely, an F. Scott Fitzgerald quote came to mind as the šúŋkawakȟáŋ disappeared into the landscape. A quote that I believe to be rather poignant in these troubling oh-too-modern times we live in. Still, I am left with a sense of optimism that we, and the wilder creatures, will somehow keep on keepin’ on. One way or another. • #keepwildhorseswild by @bcdwg

It’s no secret to family and close friends in the board sports community, but I am excited to announce that I joined the Board of Directors for @serious.juju a few months ago! 🛹 Serious JuJu is a non-profit indoor skatepark in Kalispell, Montana that provides a safe space for kids in the Flathead Valley to learn and enjoy what skateboarding can really offer for them in life. Skateboarding is about more than just style and freedom; it’s about creating a healthy future for our community. It may not be obvious to those on the outside of the skatepark watching bodies and boards fly, flip, slide and grind over metal and concrete, but there are many ways skateboarding imparts life skills, character, and knowledge. Change starts with our youth. Change happens at Serious JuJu. Serious JuJu empowers youth, and it’s what we do every day through the expression of our core values. Impacting the lives of more than 1,000 youths and their families annually, we are inspiring our children to be leaders within our community. Open 5 days a week, Serious JuJu provides shelter, nutrition, and life lessons to all who attend. While my journey with Serious Juju has just begun, their work has been positively affecting the Flathead Valley for 20 years. I look forward to seeing the continued impact, sustainability, and growth of Serious Juju as we work to amplify the message that matters: Mental health amongst our youth is a growing crisis. The skateboard community provides not just an outlet for kids, but an opportunity to be a part of an inclusive culture that emphasizes expression of self. That is why I love standing sideways on a board: To truly express myself; to enjoy being the real me. I’m filled with inspiration seeing the kids of the Flathead start their journey on a board. It reminds me of when I first stepped on a skateboard, strapped into a snowboard, and felt the thrill of “the ride”. It always brings to mind that old quote that “life is just a ride” and to live it well is worth it in countless ways. That is Serious Juju in a nutshell. Wanna get involved? Feel free to reach out to me. The door is always open and I’ll be there standing sideways to welcome you 🤙🏼 by @bcdwg
