A little October reminder for our survivors & thrivers…

This month, as the world turns pink, remember that behind every ribbon is a person, a story, and a journey that deserves to be seen. Awareness is important, but so are YOU. Every stage, every feeling, every experience matters.

You are here, now, and that matters. You don't have to do it all, attend every event or feel a certain way this month. Take what feels good, leave what doesn't, and remember that you are always part of our community.

Sending you a big hug from all of us!

You are not just part of our awareness month. You are part of our community, all year long.

We often hear the words “early detection” – but what does that actually mean?

It means knowing what is normal for your breasts and recognising when something has changed.
Changes can include a new lump or thickening, a change in size or shape, changes to the skin or nipple, or unusual nipple discharge.
Not every change means cancer but a change that is unusual for you deserves attention.

Don't diagnose yourself. Don't panic. Don't ignore it.

Know your body. Know the signs. Speak to your doctor.

That's the message behind our partnership with Know Your Lemons – making breast health information easier to understand and easier to remember.

Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness

Today, we recognise those living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC), honouring their journeys, acknowledging the realities they navigate, and making space for the voices and experiences that deserve to be heard.

Over the next days, we’ll be sharing the stories of three remarkable thrivers from our community. Through their own words, they share their experiences, what they wish others understood about living with MBC, and what they want the world to know. Today we highlight Tori one of our thrivers 🩷

Every journey is different, and behind every story is a person deserving of compassion, understanding and support beyond a diagnosis.

A breast cancer diagnosis affects more than the body.
It can affect confidence, relationships, work, finances, family life and mental wellbeing.

Sometimes the hardest part isn't knowing what treatment is coming next. It's simply getting through the day.

On World Mental Health Day, we want to acknowledge the emotional side of breast cancer too.
To the person currently going through treatment.
To the person living with metastatic breast cancer.
To the person who has finished treatment but doesn't feel quite finished with it.
To the partner, parent, child, friend or colleague trying to support someone they love.
And to those who are struggling quietly.
You don't have to pretend that you're okay simply because you're grateful to be here.
Support matters – physically, emotionally and practically.

Today is International Flat Day.

While October is widely known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, October 7 holds a very special meaning. Today is a day dedicated to celebrating choice, autonomy, and the diverse paths to healing.

For some, choosing to go flat after a mastectomy is a deeply personal decision.
For others, it is the path that treatment, circumstances, or their body has chosen for them.

Please remember: there is no single "right" way to look after yourself after breast cancer. No shape, surgery, or reconstruction can ever define your femininity, your strength, or your unique story.

Today, we see you.
We honour your choice.
We honour your body.
We honour you.

Every body. Every choice. Every journey.

The champagne is finished. The dancing is over. The auction paddles are packed away. But the work continues...

October may be our biggest fundraising month, but the reason we fundraise is simple: people need us all year round.

The real impact of a donation isn't the cheque, the event or the photograph.
It's what happens afterwards.

That's why we fundraise. Thank you for your partnership!

What an incredible evening for an incredible cause. 💗

It was a pleasure to attend the Breast Cancer Gala last night and once again witness the extraordinary generosity of our Cayman community.

Of course, the Premier and I couldn’t resist getting in on the action! We offered ourselves up in the live auction — a chance to take on the Premier and Deputy Premier in a game of pickleball!

Only in Cayman can a little friendly competition, plenty of laughter and an incredibly generous room turn a game of pickleball into more than $40,000 for such an important cause.

A wonderful night and another reminder of what makes Cayman so special. 💗

Now… we better start practicing! 😄 by @bcfcayman

With the start of October marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The Mum Club by Health City Cayman Islands and Breast Cancer Cayman have joined together to share an important reminder for mums and mums-to-be. 💗

Pregnancy and breastfeeding bring so many changes to your body, and your breasts are no exception. While many of these changes are completely normal, it’s still important to know what’s normal for you and to pay attention to anything new, unusual or persistent.

This month, we’re encouraging women to look, feel and notice. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t put it down to pregnancy or breastfeeding and don’t wait to get it checked.

Know your normal. Notice a change. Get it checked. 💖

October is here.

For some, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a sea of pink. For others, October can bring back difficult memories, anniversaries, treatment experiences or the emotions that come with a diagnosis.

At the Breast Cancer Foundation, we want to make space for all of those experiences.

Today, on the first of the month, we are asking you to Feel It on the First.
Take a few minutes to know what is normal for you.
Know how your breasts look and feel, and if you notice a change that isn't normal for you, don't ignore it.
Speak to your doctor.

Breast awareness isn't about fear. It's about knowing your body well enough to recognise when something has changed.
And if you are already living with breast cancer, please know that October is about you too.

Every story is unique. Every journey matters.
