🎙️Tomorrow night! Join us for our monthly Open Mic Night at 6pm. 💕 Every second Thursday of the month we get together to highlight local talent and provide an opportunity for our community to jump on the mic.

We are thrilled to welcome CJ Martin back as our host, an all around great guy full of talent! Our feature is musical duo from Stockton, Cool Minutes. @coolminutesmusic is comprised of JT Smith and Billy Gonzo, joined together by their love of music. Their group blends rock, blues, and some of that Stockton grit, bringing you a set you won’t forget.

✨ Join us for a night of expression, community, and celebration this Thursday! Our open mic nights have been growing strong for one year and we bring it full circle by welcoming back our first host, @minteaspc_

😊 Doors open at 5:30pm

🎤 Open Mic begins at 6pm

We are delighted to welcome Dylan Collins as our featured poet. Dylan is a special education teacher at Grant High School and published author of two full length poetry books, “Love Poems We Write Ourselves” and “In Our Hearts Slowly Built a Thunder”. He has toured nationally, ran writing workshops for youth and adults, coached Poetry Out Loud and a youth poetry slam team from Garner High School in North Carolina that won the state finals. Dylan founded the non-profit Word Humboldt poetry community and hosted the weekly spoken word open mic for six years in Arcata, California. He also helped host and produce Rhythm & Rhymes music/poetry event since 2023. He is excited to connect and inspire others to keep going through words.

Our host, Ben Sanchez, is a half-blind, self-taught artist that writes and sketches at the edges of blank space. His poetry was selected as a 2024 winner of the Inaugural ChapLip Library Series through Tuleburg Press. His writing has appeared in The Fire Within: Labor, Art & The Human Spirit and Center of Attention: Poems on Stockton and San Joaquin. Featured work was selected in 2024 and 2025 through Instagram poetry accounts. Ben is inspired by several individuals who continue to support his journey.

Des recently graduated from San Joaquin Delta College and is on the way to San Francisco State University. At Delta Des held leadership positions and was the President of Talking Spirits Club. Des has been a constant presence at our Open Mic Nights and we love watching Des grow, encouraging all of us to grow along.

Victorya Contreras a.k.a. The Sparkle Potato Poet is a left-handed creative from Lodi, CA. Her poetry explores themes of grief, identity, and human connection. Victorya illuminates rooms with her words, leaving glimmers of hope that we are never truly alone.

🤔 What’s the Shelf Show?? Our purpose is to highlight and benefit local musicians by providing space for an intimate show. All proceeds from this show will support local musicians and literacy programs in our community through our nonprofit, The Bibliophile Collective For the Arts.

✨ We’re focused on building community. Don’t miss out on the fantastic events we have coming up!

🌼 Second Thursday Open Mic is full of firsts for June! Our lovely Des @wallflower_universe is hosting the evening, featuring the incredible @thesparklepotatopoet. Doors open 5:45PM, open mic from 6-8:30 soft close.

🎨 Our first Paint & Sip is Saturday, June 13th, a morning for mimosas and creativity! This class is led by @chaseurdreams1317 and all materials are provided for you. Bring a date, some friends, or enjoy some alone time. Spots are limited, ticket link in bio.

🎵 The @bcfta209 is debuting the Shelf Show on Wednesday, June 17th. This project will directly benefit local musicians and their original work. Half of all funds raised go directly to the headlining musicians and 10% support our literacy programs. Filmed in front of a live audience, this show by @mazel.tovcocktail is one you don’t want to miss! Tickets in bio, limited number available.

✂️ Free Zine Workshop - Saturday, June 27 with @mithic_comics. This free workshop for teens and adults will contain all you need to get crafty. Learn how to make a zine with us, or bring a current project create with us.

We are honored to assist Alan Cook’s First Day Project, @firstdaystockton, working to get books into the hands of kindergartners on their first day of school! This is Alan’s 6th year orchestrating this project, and last year they donated 1,500 books to kids across @stocktonunified.

📚 Swing by @ottosbookstore209 to buy a new book! They have a great selection of new inventory with more on the way. They will place your book in a secure spot for the First Day delivery.

❤️ Donate funds and we will buy the book for you! You can dedicate your purchase, recommend titles for us to buy, and support the project from anywhere!

✨ Meet the Artists ✨ Friday, May 8th, 5:00 - 8:00 PM

We are thrilled to launch our nonprofit arm, The Bibliophile Collective For the Arts, by sponsoring local artists in our community! Local poets Benjamin M. Sanchez and Melchor Sahagun III are joining the Art + Lit Walk this Friday. Each is a multi-talented artist from Stockton, and you don’t want to miss their incredible work!

Benjamin M. Sanchez has an MA in Mass Communication from University of the Pacific, and his poetry was selected as a 2024 winner of the Inaugural ChapLip Library Series through Tuleburg Press. His writing has appeared in The Fire Within: Labor, Art & The Human Spirit and Center of Attention: Poems on Stockton and San Joaquin. Featured work was selected in 2024 and 2025 through Instagram poetry accounts. His artwork and poetry will be available this Friday.

Melchor Sahagun III is a Mexican-American poet from Stockton, CA, whose work uses the lyrical and abstract to express his emotional response to a strangely odd, terrifying, and beautiful world. He also said to mention that he LOVES cats. His debut collection of poetry, Sorry I’m Late, was published by Tuleburg Press in 2023 and will be available this Friday.

🥰 Remember, Amazon won’t bake you cookies. They don’t have incredible volunteers that make you bookmarks to give out on #indiebookstoreday either! Join us tomorrow to celebrate from 10-4 PM.

We aren’t just a place to grab a book. You can meet local artists, perform here, make art, meet new friends, schedule a field trip, you name it. We LOVE our community and what we’re building together. And we can’t do it without you.

Indie bookstore day started in 2013 as California Bookstore Day. It quickly took off and grew into a nationwide celebration in 2015 to promote the value of bookstores in their community. Today, thousands of indie bookstores come together every April to honor their significance.
