The wait is almost over! We are incredibly thrilled to share our official exhibition poster by @azul.pitanga along with an exclusive first look behind the scenes as everything comes together for opening day.

We’re deeply proud to be part of #LCAW2026, spotlighting how brilliant contemporary design and material innovation from the Caatinga can operate as powerful ecological collaborators against global climate challenges.

Hosted at The Bomb Factory Marylebone, the exhibition responds to the intelligence of scarcity within an exclusively Brazilian biome. Guided by our three core pillars of Tradition, Memory, and Territory, our designers merge cultural heritage and biodiversity, showcasing creations born from the limitations of this biome

24-28 June 2026, from 11am - 6pm

at The Bomb Factory, 206 Marylebone, London NW1 6JQ

Free & open to all

SAVE THE CAATINGA, SAVE THE FUTURE 🌍🌵

The Caatinga, an exclusively Brazilian biome, is a global lesson in climate survival. Often misunderstood as a barren desert, it is actually a hyper-adaptive semi-arid forest that turns severe water scarcity into regenerative life. The Caatinga biome accounts for up to 50% of Brazil’s net carbon sequestration.

Safeguarding the Caatinga means safeguarding our future. The region’s innate biodiversity teaches us how to innovate under pressure and work with local ecosystems rather than exploiting them.

Join the conversation at London Climate Action Week

24-28 June 2026, from 11am - 6pm
at The Bomb Factory, 206 Marylebone, London NW1 6JQ

ANNA MARIANI - CAATINGA: A FOREST OF MANY COLOURS

A major highlight of BCFT 2026: we are proud to present the visual archives of legendary Brazilian photographer Anna Mariani.

Documented over two decades (1970–1990), Mariani’s geometric, colorful portraits of the northeastern sertão remain one of the most important artistic records of the region. Having exhibited at the Centre Pompidou and the Serpentine Gallery, her lens beautifully captures the soul of the Caatinga and beyond.

The Designers of Caatinga: Stitching Resilience 🌵✨

Swipe to see how these designers translate the resilience of this landscape into wearable art:

🪵 Ex-voto Ensemble: A 100% linen blazer and trousers set by Ana Beatriz Ribeiro for Açude and Marina Cavalcante for Caxo Cria. Naturally dyed with onion peel, annatto seeds, and turmeric, the ensemble is anchored by hand-carved wooden buttons replicating traditional devotional ex-votos from Juazeiro do Norte. (images 1, 2)

🌱 Trama Viva Dress: A hand-woven silhouette by Elis Cardim (with Bahia Crafts and Master Zé Lito) that bridges rusticity and luxury. The design pairs rugged regional sisal with delicate, repurposed silk threads, finished with natural vegetable dyes extracted from eucalyptus and pine. (images 3, 4, 5)

🌾 Laje Earrings & Cap: Hand-braided sisal fibre crafted into lightweight, sculptural accessories. Designed by Celina Hissa for Catarina Mina with artisan women from Rio Grande do Norte, these pieces use a specialized stitch technique to give raw plant fibre remarkable flexibility and intricate surface texture. The Designers of Caatinga: Stitching Resilience 🌵✨

Swipe to see how these designers translate the resilience of this landscape into wearable art:

🧵 Upcycled Tapestry Ensemble: Created by Weider Silveiro in collaboration with artisans Zolina and Maria Takeuti. Fusing the traditional Brazilian fuxico (fabric rosette) technique with sakiori, an ancient Japanese method of weaving upcycled fabric strips, this design transforms recovered industrial cotton waste into a richly textured masterpiece. (images 1, 2, 3)

🧥 Blooming Within Coat & Asymmetrical Look: Designed by Flavia Aranha, a pioneer in natural dyeing and plant-based colouration. These pieces utilise agroecologic  brown cotton grown by family farmers in Paraíba, organic silk printed botanically with local cashew leaves and barbatimão bark, and chrome-free leather sandals by the Arteza cooperative. The Designers of Caatinga: Stitching Resilience 🌵✨

Swipe to see how these designers translate the resilience of this landscape into wearable art:

🥥 Straw Sequin Dress & Reisado Leather Ensemble: Designed by Marina Bitu. The dress, co-created with researcher Nayane Araújo, features experimental, biodegradable sequins made from gelatin and coconut straw. The matching top and skirt use fluid, hand-cut strips of vegetable-tanned goat leather from the Arteza cooperative, inspired by traditional Reisado folk festival dancers. (images 1, 2, 4, 5)

🪵 Zumdoo Contemporary Eyewear: Created by Edielson Alves dos Santos for Zumdoo. Sculpted from a deep familiarity with wood, these pieces combine reclaimed timber, recycled skateboard decks, and unexpected tattoo needle shafts with braided ariri palm fibre, reinterpreting the traditional hats worn by rural Caatinga workers to shield against the intense sun. The Designers of Caatinga: Stitching Resilience 🌵✨

Swipe to see how these designers translate the resilience of this landscape into wearable art:

🧥 Encantados da Caatinga Overcoat: Designed by Adriana Meira using repurposed textile offcuts. The striking patchwork and hand-embroidery tell a visual story of survival, depicting the sacred folklore and hardy nature of the drylands, from the deep-rooted umbuzeiro tree to the mythical enchanted ox. (images 1, 2)

🤠 Vaqueiro Ensemble: Crafted especially for this exhibition by Master Espedito Seleiro, one of Brazil’s most celebrated living treasures of craft. Coming from a legendary lineage of leatherworkers (his grandfather famously made sandals for the bandit Lampião) Espedito’s workshop keeps centuries of history alive. This complete cowboy outfit is made from naturally tanned goat leather, traditionally worn to survive the thorny brushwood, and features his unmistakable, colourful arabesque patterns.
