Nothing quite like getting traded and doing a full house move to make you feel like maybe you should adopt a more minimalistic life… but then you remember you have four kids. 😂 And then you also remember you’ve never been a minimalist anyway.

But we did it! We are officially Minnesotans! 🤍

And even in the midst of all the boxes, moving chaos, and figuring out our new normal, we’ve found so much joy exploring our new town and already feel so much love for this new place we get to call home. Minnesota, we’re so happy to be here! 🥹🤍 taken in Minnesota by @bcoles25

Choosing to go to Calgary was one of the best life-changing decisions that Blake and I made. ❤️I’ll never forget sitting in our rental home in Tampa after wrapping up two championship seasons there. Free agency had just opened, Blake was on the phone with a former teammate, and we were trying to decide what to do and he was like y’all will love Calgary, It’s like the Texas of Canada! And it really is. ❤️ This is such a bittersweet time for us. When we moved to Calgary, we started with just two kids, Carson was 3 months old and Charlie was still 1. We bought a home in the cutest neighborhood with the sweetest neighbors. It didn’t take long for us to build a community there filled with so many supportive and genuinely awesome people. I always felt so supported during my time there, especially those years I was super pregnant navigating the winter😂. Before Calgary, I had never heard of snow tires, or seen a city continue to fully operate with snow and ice everywhere on the roads. Or seen a neighbor come out from his porch barefoot, walking through patches of ice just to say hi to me on a walk with the kids. I thought, That’s a true Canadian right there. I’ll never forget Blake taking the kids to skate on our neighborhood outdoor rink 🥹 holding them as babies, fumbling around as toddlers, and then watching them skate themselves on that same rink. Calgary was more than just our hockey playing city. It was truly our home. My heart is so full knowing we fully embraced everything the city had to offer: spending Christmases in Banff at the castle, that drive to Banff that is one of the most beautiful drives you will ever take, truly LIVING at Stampede lol, bringing the kids to the rodeo, the tubing hill at Olympic Park, and of course all of the Flames games. ❤️ The city is built for families. Flames fans, y’all are the best. Thank you for embracing us Texans all these years. The team and the staff were always so good to us, and I’m so thankful for the lasting friendships we made. We will always look back on Calgary with a smile, and I know I still have some tears to come as we make our way back to pack up this month.
