WADER WATCH – Summer Count 2026
Organised by Bird Conservation Society, Gujarat (BCSG)

The Bird Conservation Society, Gujarat invites participation in the Wader Watch – Summer Count 2026, aimed at monitoring coastal wader populations and strengthening identification skills through a structured field workshop.

📅 Date of Reporting: 21st March 2026 at 8:00 AM
📅 Program Concludes: 22nd March 2026 at 1:00 PM
📍 Location: Narara – Marine National Park

🎓 A dedicated Wader Identification Workshop will be conducted as part of the program.

Program Fees:
• BCSG Members: ₹ 2,850/- per participant
• Non-Members: ₹ 3,100/- per participant

The Bird Conservation Society, Gujarat (BCSG), in collaboration with the Department of Zoology, Gujarat University and Wetland Revival Trust, organised a Guest Lecture on “Degrading Processes in Wetlands and Ecological Restoration Techniques.”

The session was delivered by Mr. Damien Cook, Director, Wetland Revival Trust, Australia, who shared international insights on wetland degradation, restoration approaches, and community-based conservation practices.

Registrations are now open for the Gujarat Statewide Raptor Survey 2026 (GRS)—a first-of-its-kind, statewide citizen science initiative dedicated to understanding the abundance and distribution of the raptors of Gujarat.

The survey is organised by the *Bird Conservation Society, Gujarat (BCSG)* and supported by the *Gujarat Forest Department and Raptor Network India* , bringing together birdwatchers, researchers, forest officials, NGOs, and citizen scientists to generate vital baseline data across Gujarat’s protected areas.

Heronry Watch 2025 | On 24th August, around 40 nature enthusiasts came together with volunteers from #VNC and #BCSG to observe and record the fascinating lives of herons. Participants not only watched these elegant birds in their natural habitat but also learned about their behavior, breeding colonies, and ecological significance.

The event was a beautiful blend of community participation, hands-on learning, and collective conservation effort — reminding us that every observation helps deepen our understanding and strengthen actions for protecting urban biodiversity.

Riverfront Birdwatching Program Takes Flight! 🐦🌿

The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (SRDCL) @srfdcl_ , in collaboration with the Bird Conservation Society, Gujarat (BCSG) @bcsg_gujarat , has successfully launched a Birdwatching Program at the Sabarmati Riverfront.

We’re thrilled to share that the first two sessions, held on Saturday and Sunday, received an overwhelming response from the citizens of Ahmedabad. Over 150 participants joined us and observed 45–50 species of birds, gaining valuable insights into birdwatching and urban biodiversity.

🕕 Sessions will continue every weekend from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM — come be a part of this unique nature experience in the heart of the city!
