Despite the very questionable weather we have had in London so far this year, there has been a pretty incredible cherry blossom adding a bit of welcome colour!

Trying to capture a timeless London seemed appropriate for a nearly 100 year old camera. Horse Guards on Whitehall felt like a good place to base our efforts and photograph the King’s Life Guards of the Household Cavalry. When you live in a city you often avoid things you might considered ‘touristy’ but it’s nice to see now and again and be reminded of what it has to offer. This Zeiss Ikon ‘Bob’ from 1937 is in remarkable condition came with the original leather case and instruction booklet and even the original receipt! It’s fascinating to think about what images might have been captured throughout history in this. (Sadly) it’s recently been sold and is off to a new adventure in India.

Certainly a winning combination! This is the third Pentax PC35AF-m we’ve had through our doors and there a reason we keep seeking them out. They look flipping Bladerunner cool with their retro futuristic aesthetic and they take wonderfully sharp images. Paired here with with @analoguewonderland WonderPan 400

Hoops on film in (almost) Spring. Really impressed with the tests on the Olympus Mju panorama (in standard and panorama mode!). There’s a reason the Mju series is so famous! .

Rugby on a Pepsi can? Broke out this fun novelty camera made by @pepsi in 1998 to take some photos at the recent Saracens vs Harlequins game. It raised some eyebrows then got some laughs from security on entry to the stadium, a reaction this camera is used to. It’s a brilliant conversation piece and fun to pop in a jacket pocket for occasions such as this. It’s not quite @expiredfilmclub but maybe we’ll break out one of our heavy hitters for the next game.

The elegant Canon Demi, a half frame camera introduced in 1963. Such a nifty little camera, sleek and brilliantly designed. You can see some of the images it’s taken on a previous reel (the one with the London bus). Here captured on the Pentax SFX.

I don’t think there’s a photographer in London that hasn’t wandered around the maze that is The Barbican. Who couldn’t like the hard architectural lines and heavy contrast that the estate provides especially on a bright sunny day such as this. Fomapan 100 was the perfect choice for this Sure Shot AF-7s .

The Canon Demi; a beautifully simple half frame camera that gives you 72 shots on a standard 36 exposure roll! Less changing rolls on the fly and more bang for your buck with film and developing! What’s not to like!! Operating the camera is simple, just line up the shutter/aperture dial by turning the lens to match the exposure dial on the top of the camera, set your focus and away you go! One of my favourite quick and easy street photography cameras.
