ten years of you stealing my heart. every birthday seems to come as quickly as the sun crosses the sky. i hold tight to your innocence and sweetness. some may argue a little too tight. in my world you are still a little boy. i am clinging to that. i think you are an old soul. authentic wisdom. love for the simple things. my little humanitarian. you have an innate ability to be empathetic. inclusive. and kind. some of which is fostered in you. some organic. there is a steady sense to know how to help. a benevolence. your quiet sacrifices. one more recent comes to mind. your momma and daddy got tickets for all of you to go to forrest frank (one of your favorites) limited tickets so they were going to have rove stay back. without hesitation you said "i will stay". in the end you all got to go.that is just you. and you do it because it is the right thing to do. not to be praised. no reward. just you. selfless. you are animated. courageous. already fighting for a relationship with Christ. it is mirrored in you. a goodness. and purity. a candid tenderness. articulate. honest. disciplined. full of life and love. if we could all be more like you. the way you tell stories. your infectious smile. big hugs. how you pack your own lunch for school. your perfectly scripted handwriting. you love to read a lot. and have a wild imagination. you love football. my favorite too. shooting hoops. fishing. adventures. and the water. the beach. the ocean. which would explain your wonder and curiosity. love of nature. you are the best buddy. loyal. encouraging. checking in and lifting up. i hope you will always be mine. i am so thankful for the time we get together. watching you do anything brings me joy. i wish you knew how much. and maybe someday you will. i want you to know i write these things so that when i am gone you remember me through my words. of the things i saw in you. and loved in you. our story. you are salt and light of the earth to me. stay rooted in God's grace my precious boy. call out the kindness of Him. savour the gospel. keep a revival in your heart. know Jesus is where the victory is. i will be watching. with all that i have. and all that i am. i love you🤎 giddy by @bdoss62

you are ten. my sweet boy. and the tears fall. you are a little like heaven on earth to me. your laugh is imprinted on my soul. your tiny thoughts and big feelings embedded in the deepest part of me. with you life moves more easily. you are the heartbeat of the littles in our family. you lead them marvellously. rovey drew you a picture for your birthday and you quietly placed it in your bedroom window. not for anyone else. but for you. you love them fiercely. they love you right back. this last year God gave you a baby sister. i will never forget taking you to the hospital to meet her. a timeless keepsake. you hurrying to the door. stuffy in hand. then the biggest breath. it was as if you knew how much we needed her. your bond with her. it is pure. gentle. and unbreakable. i could write a book about you. i love your zest. the details in your artwork. your sun drenched hair. how you love your friends. your quiet confidence. protective heart. how you wear your socks. that you make me feel seen. invited. your abundant joy. grand ideas. a dreamer. adventure seeker. luckily and magically some of which have allowed you to move and start a new school in a new city with bold courage. embracing a future of blank pages God is inexplicably writing. you are a little bit in the country now and it suits you. with land to play all the football. a creek to fish. and room to wrestle your brother. you will go head to head then you worry if he is too close to the water. look after him always. you love hunting. have been dubbed the "rabbit king". probably while barefoot. two birds one "stone" in a burlebo ad. you have a keen sense for learning. and details. usually spot on. the questions you ask. you are intense. passionate. and rooted in the how and why. you love cooking. fresh towels out of the dryer. wearing your blanket to breakfast. singing. even the star-spangled banner. i pray you remember greatness is born by perseverance. that feeling deeply doesn't make you fragile. try hard. then try harder. know His trues are true. that nothing can stop the gospel. grow in favor with the Lord. lastly hold fast knowing that i will be your biggest fan. i love you with all i am ❤️ giddy by @bdoss62

my sweet hazey is seven. i beg the thief of time to be gentle on me. time doesn't ask for permission. you help me see the special in everything. every rock. every ladybug. every budding tree. teaching me to stop and wonder at Gods creations. not hurrying by it. but soaking it in. i want that to linger. seeing the beauty and wonder through the eyes of a child. you are truly magic. bursting with this innocent imagination. whether you are lying on your back with a baby duck on your chest or catching a lizard to become attached to. i can close my eyes and see you running in a field of daisies with a tiara and boots chasing puppies. i pray i can always see that. it is who you are. your love for animals and heart for them. you are curious. beautiful in spirit. a kindred soul. you love bedtime stories. painted nails. umbrellas. roller coasters. bungees. firebowl (especially on a date with your daddy). you remind me so much of your momma and a little of your bae bae. competitive. girly. and a tomboy. fishing in a dress. football jersey and cowboy boots. and you can out ride the boys on your dirt bike. there are rarely days you don't have skinned knees and bandaids. you show us girls don't fit in one box. i love the way you pray. pack your own lunch. your tiny little hands. how you run down the stairs when i come over. yell out my name and jump in my arms. how you play with my hair. and sense when someone is sad. you have a contagious joy. it is constant. the way you are with your little friends makes me so proud. hold them close. your momma is fostering that in you. you will need them. this year you learned to roller skate. like a beast i might add. you are a daredevil. independent. sweet. a nurturer. adventurous. captivating. you are respectful. and you love babies. you just started soccer. and scored your first goal in your first game with a big pink bow in your hair. living life with you is the sweetest gift. you are being taught what it looks like to follow Jesus. don't ever stop looking to Him. it is where true peace comes from. know your worth. pray. believe. you are my sunshine. for now and always. i love you with all i am 🤎 giddy by @bdoss62

my precious steiner is seven. our little trailblazer. an ironclad will. don't tell me i can't. and believe me we wouldn't. feisty. daring. ask a million questions. unflinching. unmistakably wild boy. your heart is gold and it fills every room. the way you get your words mixed up but we don't correct you because it's so darn cute. they could search the world for more try and not find it. you are endearing. rambunctious. sensitive. rocket fueled. you have an innate confidence. you keep our days loud and unpredictable. but you are exactly what our hearts beat for. this year has brought a lot of change. you became a big brother. you are obsessed with her. and her with you. no one makes your eyes light up like she can. more recent. you moved. changed schools. unsure but brave. and you are killing it. already changing hearts there. on the first day you challenged everyone to a foot race. only stein. i love the way you chew. your little raspy voice. your great big smile. and how you look at your momma. look up to your daddy. and want to be just like stone. you have this white streak hidden in the back of your hair. i think God put it there to remind us how special you are. you are both the thunderstorm and rainbow. you make life brighter. a constant adventure. riding your dirt bike barefoot. fishing in your creek. or sitting in the throne with haze at your party because that is what you do only for her. i wish everyone loved like you. your passion could move mountains. i am so lucky to get to love you. we all have a soft spot for you. you are by far the youngest on your football team but they don't mess with you. you are fiery. full out and watch this. and in steiner fashion you make sure we all did and remember. your rowdy spirit has changed me. i pray you never stop telling me how much you love me. or asking me if i will be there. never stop being you buddy. you are a gift. i pray you use your fire to live out the gospel. your daddy is a perfect example of that. follow his lead. protect and adore your momma. forgive freely. love with all you have and then some. i am always in your corner. cheering you on. loud and bold. with all i have. i love you 🤎 giddy by @bdoss62

nine years of loving you. my bronzed skin. piercing blue eyes. spitting image of my daddy and your papo in his younger years. perfect boy. you are sunshine. you have painted my world. how sweet it is that every year there is something more spellbinding i see and memorize in you. as they say the years are short. indeed they are. suddenly you are taller. losing teeth. outgrowing your cleats. doing homework. mastering scripture. but in the fast passage of days and years. watching you loving life. seeing new gifts in you. your own opinion and thoughts. unfolding an unmatchable sense of curiosity. fostering others. it stings less. because it is beautiful. as are you. in so many ways. the way you feel. your tender heart. love for family. a surreal gentleness. how you pray. deeply rooted goodness. from your imagination to your love for books. you are unapologetically you. wildly disciplined. inquisitive. respectful. forgiving. and steadily kind. capturing hearts everywhere. you love football. soccer. golf. frog gigging. fishing with your daddy. your special little group of friends (man i have prayed for that). riding your bike to the creek. toasted sourdough bread over chocolate. mostly you love Jesus. your wisdom for salvation through faith and the gospel is embedded deep in your soul. you shared with me about your momma giving victory to the Lord when the two of you were on a prayer walk (i cried). how lucky are you. how lucky is she. you have a unique way of protecting. it is like it was born in you. guarding hearts. being cautious of others thoughts and emotions. uncommon at your age. maybe. but it is part of who you are. you are brave. drenched in honesty. the littlest thing you do that makes you feel icky you come forth with. just wow. you have changed me from the inside out. i pray you stay loyal. be merciful to Him in all ways. forever champion truth my sweet boy. cling to knowing there is no peace outside of Christ. be a soldier for God. love hard. love well. be the salt. and know you are enough. you are the treasure of my heart. a little bit of yesterday. and a piece of tomorrow. i will love you on the hills and in the valleys. as long as i breathe. giddy❤️ by @bdoss62
