Today is my daughter's birthday, so it's only right that she takes the reins on this drop. Due to her busy schedule, we were unable to sit down for an interview—instead, she submitted the artwork for the cover herself.

Years ago, I started a tradition of building secret playlists for my kids. From quick runs to school and the grocery store to long highway road trips, I always play music from my favorite artists and albums. Every once in a while, I’d hear an "I like that one" or a "Can you play that again?", and straight to their playlist it went.

From that collection, she handpicked the 9 tracks she felt you all would love.

I’ve always believed that you can truly know someone just by looking at their musical blueprint. Today, I'm launching a project that’s been brewing for a long time: Nine At A Time.

The concept is simple but strict—9 tracks a month, dropped on the 9th, dedicated to flawless instrumentation and atmospheric grooves. In the future, I'm bringing on guests to unpack their worlds through nine core questions. But for Drop One, I wanted to go first.

This is my thesis statement. It’s the sound of growing up in Atlanta, the slick R&B rhythms I’ve rotated for years, and the deep, cinematic electronic soundscapes that keep me inspired.

Son,
10 years ago today you came into this world and changed everything. I didn't know how to be a father then, but I knew I would always be there for you, no matter what.
It's been a wild ride, but that's what parenthood is. There's twists and turns and surprises everywhere, but we keep showing up for each other through it all.
In these 10 years, you have taught me so much. Just when I doubt if my advice is sinking in, you shine with a moment of insight that proves you hear every word.
I cannot wait to see what the next 10 years will bring us.

Last Sunday at the @sohohouse Holloway House was pure magic as we brought @the_cope_dealer's vision for "All Due Respect" to life. It was dope collaborating with such talented people to create something truly special.

Huge thanks to producer extraordinaire @sjr0b for keeping us on point and the genius @fonztheesomm for pairing wine with classic music samples to perfection! It was an honor to share my love of music history at the first event, diving deep into legendary samples.

My youngest and I were honored to model for the cover of my bro @stephenspncr's track "Earth Papa".

The cover art is inspired by the movie poster for the movie "Earth Mama" (slide 3) while the song was inspired by the amazing conversations Stephen had after watching it.

This song is truly special and is streaming now.

Thinking about the cool opportunity I had to interview @leonthomas a few weeks back at @slowjamzgallery for Vinyl and Vino. We had a great conversation about his contributions to SZA's album "SOS", working with Babyface, and staying on top of your mental health in your personal and professional life.
