Northern CA was a dream. A huge thank you to @russdw92 and @elliejo2010 for hosting us at Ellie’s family cabin. Felt like we were in Virgin River (my greatest guilty pleasure show but that’s another post for a different time). Ellis loved the tunnels and hills of San Francisco. But maybe the sea lions most of all? And we brought home a cold for a souvenir. 🙃 but something tells me we’ll be back soon enough. 🥰 taken in SFMOMA San Francisco Museum of Modern Art by @be2thex

When they tell you that mothers struggle to maintain their identities, I didn’t understand. I didn’t understand that you are thrown into the deep end of the postpartum pool, clawing your way to the surface to feel like you can breathe again. And as you grow into this new mother being, your child is growing too, mirroring each other in understanding and changing. I feel profoundly different and also exactly the same as I’ve always been, except with a tiny shadow that I’m keenly aware of. I don’t really know everything it means to be a mother. There are too many seasons I haven’t experienced. I try my best to learn from other caregivers and teach this little girl. Some days are a dream and others feel interminable. But I feel an immense grateful ache in my chest that I get to mother this little person. I love growing in this new identity with you Ellis girl. by @be2thex
