✌️🗣️

For Thomas Newman - mix available on my soundcloud.

There are many favourite contemporary composers in my collection, but only Newman's chords can make me hold my breath.

This ambient mix consists of my favourite Newman's compositions.

On 1 January 2024, I published my podcast “supportukraine Part 12”. Denys Kulikov - an artist from Zhytomyr/ Ukraine, who works on animal and plant themes, drew a artwork for it named “The Guard”. It shows a little guard surrounded by rose thorns and a sword to protect the Podcast
For me, the drawing always symbolized the danger to which Ukrainian culture is exposed and the fight against Russia's attempted (cultural) genocide in Ukraine. At the same time, I also see my work as this small guardian that tries to protect, preserve and support Ukrainian subculture.

I’ve known Dmytro @be_ca_di for almost four years now. It was whilst doing my own research for my podcast that I first came across his music and DJ sets. At the end of 2022, we met in person for the first time, and since then our relationship has evolved from a professional one to a personal and friendly one, characterised by mutual respect and, yes, admiration for each other’s passion and drive when it comes to showcasing all the facets of Ukraine’s independent music scene.

Dmytro has been and remains a loyal supporter of my cultural work as @klikerklub, and for that I am infinitely grateful to him and bow my head in humility.

His current decision to join the Ukrainian defence forces deserves my deepest respect and recognition. May ‘The Guard’ now protect him too, and may his sword be wielded against anyone who threatens or questions the freedom and beauty of an independent Ukraine.

Now you yourself are ‘The Guard’, dear Dmytro🫂.

My dear friend Dmytro came around this morning for a last good-bye coffee, before leaving Germany to join the Ukrainian army. He didn’t get forced at any time to take that step, he deliberately decided to support his country. He left my house today going via Poland to Ukraine, where he will be trained for his mission. I know Dmytro for years; his Dj sets for several events felt for me like a magical journey to places unknown, poetic, romantic and of endless dreams and desire for freedom. And it is exactly the freedom and it’s very definition that brought him to decide defending Ukraine. While in Germany there’s political tv talks, claiming to represent balanced discussions by giving people who know Ukrainian history and russian imperialism and allowing at the same time people repeating ruZZian war propaganda, who have never been to Ukraine nor know any Ukrainians. There s an expression in Ukrainian for these ignorant people advising Ukraine to not fight against terrorism: “З жиру бісяться”
Dmytro is defending what too many people take for granted. I wish Dmytro all the power and protection in the world for him and his brigade. May the raccoon watch over him - and please send him all the love and support for his beautiful mission. Slava Ukraini 🙏💙🇺🇦💛🙏 by @be_ca_di

Bye 👋 be_ca_di
It's my birthday today and it's a good cause to sum up my DJ career and to look back because!
🗣️ I will change my nickname soon, the 'be_ca_di' identity is outdated and doesn't feel relevant to me anymore as my life will change drastically in next months.

I remember each and every one on my way here and I am grateful for every gig, every interaction and every possibility to share my selections with you.

Keeping you updated 🫂
