We couldn’t be more excited to announce the world premiere of our collaborative short film A Correspondence at the 2026 New York Film Festival, which will screen in Currents Program 1: The Hidden Dimension. We’ll both be in attendance and if you’re in town we hope to see you there!

A Correspondence | 7.5 minutes | 16mm>digital | 2026
by Ben Balcom & Josh Weissbach

Immense gratitude to the NYFF shorts programming team - @ailynash, @leo.goldsmith, and Tyler Wilson - for supporting our film.

We met in college (RIP Hampshire) and our last collaborative film was made exactly 20 years ago. It’s no small wonder for us to be making films together again and to be able to share it with the world. by @be_right_balcom

United by the relationship between materiality and process, these works investigate how the aesthetics of natural substances also shape the subject of the films themselves.

Join us for two sessions of direct image making with plant matter and nontoxic development.
