We didn’t get here in a day… but look at us now.💪🏽🧠

The first time I introduced two-digit addition, my student looked at me like I was speaking another language. 😅
“Why is 8 + 7 turning into 15 and carrying 1?” he asked.
Fair question.

So, we broke it down.
Tens on one side, ones on the other.
We used counters. We drew boxes.
We made mistakes.

Then it clicked. ✨
He added 48 + 17 😊 and smiled.
Not because it was perfect, but because he understood.

🧮 This video shows that moment ✨ not the first step, but the breakthrough.

📌 Learning doesn’t have to be rushed.
It doesn’t have to be scary.

Parents, don’t wait until school resumes before you realise your child is not ready for the next class.

A new class is not just a new classroom and a new teacher. It comes with more work, a faster pace, and higher expectations.

And if a child is already struggling with some foundational skills, that transition can become overwhelming very quickly.

A student who thinks,

“7 + 7 = 14, and 6 is one less than 7, so 6 + 7 must be 13.”

is demonstrating great number sense.

This is more than getting the correct answer. It shows flexibility with numbers, strong mental calculation skills, and a deep understanding of how numbers relate to one another.

When children can use what they already know to solve something new, they are building real mathematical understanding, not just memorising facts.

Every child doesn't learn the same way, and that's what makes teaching so fascinating.
Every student brings a unique way of thinking, and when we nurture that thinking, maths becomes more than memorisation, it becomes understanding. 💡 by @beacon_teacher

When homework ends in frustration, tears, or arguments most nights, it's often a sign that something deeper needs attention.

Here are a few signs to watch for:

📚 Your child avoids homework whenever possible

😣 They become upset or frustrated over simple tasks

⏰ Homework takes much longer than expected

🙋 They constantly say, "I don't get it"

📖 They avoid reading aloud or answering questions

📉 Their confidence is dropping, even if their grades haven't changed

These signs don't mean your child isn't capable.

More often, they indicate a learning gap, a lack of confidence, or a need for concepts to be explained in a way that makes sense to them.

The earlier these gaps are identified, the easier they are to close.
