Friends and Family, run don’t walk to see the play Purpose at the Alliance Theatre. This play tells the tale of a prominent Black family, the Jaspers’. As we all know our loved ones and family can be complicated. This story touches on civil rights, faith and ones’ ambitions. You will feel this play in your heart and in your gut. And I mean way after the lights come up. The cast is incredible, but I must give a special shoutout to Travis Turner, @travistavaristurner graduate of North Atlanta High School for his amazing performance as the lead character Naz. I have not seen a local male lead with this much talent on an Atlanta stage in a good while. Bravo Travis! Bravo! 👏🏽
This is the last week, I hope there are some tickets left. If not, maybe this production will be held over due to demand. It totally deserves to stay in Atlanta as long as possible. 🤎🤎

I am sure by now many of you have heard we lost Gloria Steinem, trailblazer for women’s rights. She left a blueprint for all women to know we have a place in the home, the boardroom and society as a whole. I adore this woman and was blessed to have met her in person. Today I wore a shirt I purchased quite a few years ago when I attended her off-Broadway show called Gloria. Every time I wear this shirt, I feel a sense of purpose. Nothing like riding up to North Georgia this past weekend to pick fresh lavender with a former co-worker and friend. So relaxing and therapeutic. Last night’s game with the Sun against the Dream was a bit sloppy but the Dream pulled it off. Only I could attend a Dream game and leave with 100 pics of my favorite WNBA player Brittney Griner who left the ATL to play for Connecticut. LOL! Huge loss for Atlanta but I get it. She can now retire at home in Houston. So stoked I was able to catch her for a few autographs afterwards. Every year this event brings together civic, corporate and community leaders and recognizes those whose courage, leadership and commitment advance civil and human rights. Major kudos to the Atlanta Opera for their new production of Turandot. This April marks Turando’s 100th anniversary. Although Puccini passed away before completing this work, Nessun Dorma is absolutely my favorite aria. I am little late with this post but I must give a shout out to the C.T. Vivian Foundation for the work they are doing centered around literacy, education and the preservation of Black literature and history. This year’s 5th Annual Kaleidoscope Awards for Literacy Excellence at the Atlanta Zoo was magnificent. This year, the foundation honored authors Trymaine Lee, Isabel Wilkerson and Pearl Cleage. They also supported the next chapter of storytellers with scholarships for their commitment to literacy. As an only child growing up in Queens, NY, I was a voracious reader with a reading level two grades ahead of my class. Today, my passion for reading hasn’t wavered as I devour books on black history and health and human rights for all. Please visit https://ctvivianfoundation.org and give today.
