“While we’re in here…” is the most expensive sentence in marriage.It started as a simple fix.Just a head gasket (that Deb blew on the dyno 👀... my bad!).Wes:If the head’s coming off…Might as well put the new head on.And if the injectors are out… upgrade those.And if we’re upgrading fuel… better do the CP3.And if the manifold’s off… turbo.And if we’re in the top end… studs, pushrods, bridges…You see where this is going.This is Boy Math: Diesel Edition. It feels crazy to pull out an engine that never let us down.This 6.7 block started life in a mining cart before Wes and I picked it up and gave it an entirely different purpose. It became the first engine I was ever truly part of building—and the heart of Side Piece.Hundreds of dyno pulls. Well over 1,000 horsepower again and again. And ultimately, more than 2,000 horsepower. We opened it up, and it still looks nearly perfect.This engine gave us everything we asked from it. But the hard truth is that what carried us to 2,000 isn’t going to carry us to 3,000.So this chapter is bittersweet—but the next one is going to be wild.A new Industrial Injection engine. A new transmission from Ultimate Transmission. Massive compounds, a Bosch, and an entirely new combination built to seriously level up our game.Side Piece has already gone from a wrap last year to a beautiful new paint job—and now the transformation is happening underneath it, too.She was a beast last year.This year, we’re building the ultimate machine! 😈Road to 3,000 starts now! 🔥 by @beamanbuilds

It was a little bittersweet pulling apart a setup that did exactly what we built it to do, but we aren’t saying goodbye to this engine. There’s a good chance it finds its way back into Side Piece after the season.For now, we pulled the bumper, radiator, intercooler, crossmember, turbos, wastegates and engine to make room for the next version.The new deck-plate motor from @iidiesel is going in along with a new @ultimatetransmission - and this time, we’re chasing 3,000+ horsepower The 2,000 HP combination did its job. @idahotruckinvasion was eventful for sure. Had alot of fun. Broke some stuff, not nearly as bad as last year #ifyoudontknownowyouknow. Had a great time with @sweetsally_6.6 and @blindbuttonclicker. Got to talk with Wes and Deb over @beamanbuilds for a few. Cant wait for their event @dieselsatthedepot in October. This entire engine bay was emptied... in one night. The mock-up phase is officially over.Last night we pulled everything back out of Side Piece—the mock-up engine, both turbos (125mm & 85mm), wiring, batteries... everything. It looks bare, but that's exactly where we wanted to be.The mock-up let Koop from @xotic.fabworks build all of the turbo piping and fabrication without risking the real engine. Now that our filled deck plate engine is back from @iidiesel , it's time to build it for real.Next up: ✅ Clean and simplify the wiring ✅ Final plumbing ✅ Install the real engine ✅ Reassemble everything before Coop gets backThe goal is to have fabrication wrapped up by August 1, on the dyno by August 3, and make Side Piece 2.0's debut at @dieselfam Diesel Day Truck Rodeo on August 15.Day 18 of 40 — Road to 3,000 HP...
