This past Memorial Day, @docomomo_wisco board members Keith Stachowiak and Jeffrey Beane participated in a documentary on the @mke_warmemorial , designed in 1955 by Eero Saarinen.

This living memorial, sitting on the shore of Lake Michigan, is a place where heroes are honored, history is taught, warriors are healed, events are celebrated, and memories are made.

As we honor our Veterans today, please check out the @discoverwisconsin documentary. See link in bio.

Wishing a Happy Veterans Day to all who have served!

Farewell to our amazing summer intern Dhruva Varma Byrraju! We thank you for your hard work, enthusiasm and ability to take on new challenges in engineering and preservation.

Dhruva is heading back to @illinois1867 to complete his masters degree in structural engineering this winter. Best of luck to you this school year! by @beaneengineering

Excited to be a structural studio consultant @penn.weitzman.aad again this spring with Daniel Garcia of @drawings.dwgs

As one of their comprehensive studios, the course allows students to engage in direct collaboration with structural, mechanical and facade engineers. True to form, @penn.weitzman.aad architects push the boundaries of design and make these visits inspiring to my daily work and profession.

I also get to see the beautiful @fisherfineartslibrary next door. Designated a @nationalhistoriclandmarknps in 1985 and designed by Philadelphia architect Frank Furness, it was Penn’s main library from 1891 to 1962. by @beaneengineering

Many thanks to @aptpreservation for an amazing conference last week. It was so great to see so many old and new friends again in person!

My presentation titled “Agrarian Heritage on the Great Lakes: A Mass Timber Granary Drives Local Preservationists” highlighted some very important land use rights - the public trust doctrine, and elevated the efforts of a local community to help protect those lands and save an important piece of our heritage along the Great Lakes.

I was also fortunate to mentor a fantastic group of preservation students from School of the Art Institute of Chicago The students spent the past 6 months researching, documenting and analyzing a covered timber bridge located in Cedarburg, WI and presented, built and load tested a wood bridge in Detroit! Congrats to all the teams!
