This Raised Bed Is The Only One With Watermelon Growing🍉

In late May, I still had room in this raised bed around the edges as several pepper plants are growing in the center. There are about five or six watermelon plants growing, so I’m hoping there is enough time left in the season to harvest a few delicious watermelons!🤞🏻

Have you ever grown watermelon in a raised bed or container?

This year has been the worse year for weeds.. yet. But even though the garden is not aesthetically perfect, it’s producing pounds upon pounds of organic foods!💚

From Garden To Freezer🥦✨

After harvesting several heads of broccoli, I washed them, cut them into florets, bagged and labeled them for the freezer. I will enjoy this broccoli over the next few weeks and how wonderful it is to have it all prepped to cook with!

Sunset, A Three Sisters Row & One Pupper💚✨

Three Sisters Garden: Corn, Squash & Beans along with Nasturtiums & Calendula interplanted.

🌽CORN Varieties: Montana Sunburst, Sehsapsing Delaware Black Flint, Martian Jade (100% Did Not Sprout), Pencil & Strawberry

🥒SQUASH Varieties: Acorn, Wee Be Little Pumpkins & Spaghetti

🫘BEAN Varieties: Taiwan Yard Long & Chinese Red Noodle

July’s Garden is productive, lush and beautiful. My only struggles this year have been unusual weather and mostly, bunnies…😩 They’ve eaten almost all of my bush beans, edamame, peppers & sunflowers - EVERY planting, all 7 plantings…

I’ve never had issues with bunnies, besides stealing strawberries. Any suggestions would be helpful!😊

I’ve tried - spraying foliage with hot/spicy items and soap, covering with cloth and netting and a have a heart trap. All failures, unfortunately.

Broccoli Harvest🥦✨

I loved filling my own handmade harvest basket full of beautiful broccoli heads! This was about half of the harvest that I grew this year. I will eat some fresh today and then prep the rest for the freezer to enjoy later!😊

I will harvest the rest of the broccoli heads hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday and get them prepped for the freezer as well.

These new raised beds have been growing in nicely and wow, what a selection of plants that are providing already! The different eggplant varieties have grown large and are flowering. The bush beans are delicious and abundant in every raised bed. The flowers are growing and blooming - alyssums, marigolds, nasturtiums & more. Sweet & Hot peppers have peppers growing. The green onions are standing in place, reaching up towards the sky. And watermelons are beginning to trellis along the bed. It’s all so magical!🥰

✨🧄GARLIC Harvest!🧄✨

This was the first wheelbarrow load heading to be shaken free of soil - as best as possible and then hung to be cured for a few weeks.

Three more wheelbarrow loads later (and the last load was piled higgghhh) and I was happy to be done harvesting 350+ heads of garlic, cleaning them off and hanging them to cure. But I was even happier about the harvest itself. I am honestly so grateful as this harvest was almost PERFECT - about 95% made it to harvest, no pest pressure, no disease issues and beautiful bulbs!

The past two years I’ve battled leaf miners in my onions and garlic but this year I haven’t seen any in sight!😁🥹 The only thing I added new this year was fogging @growarber ‘s Insecticide when fertilizing the plants. What a garden success!! I will have plenty of garlic for canning, cooking, fermenting, medicinals, drying and so much more!!🌿

😍A PERFECT Head Of Red Cabbage😍

I cannot wait to harvest this cabbage later today or tomorrow to create meals and maybe even a small batch of ferment!😊

And not to down play this tight, beautiful green cabbage, it is also going to be harvested today! The broccoli is a day or two late on harvesting but nevertheless they are in almost perfect condition and ready to be enjoyed!🥦

Succession Planting Bush Beans🫘 & Cucumbers🥒

The bush beans will grow in front of the trellising cucumbers and be eaten fresh, frozen, canned and fermented. The cucumbers will trellis 6 feet towards the sun and sky, providing fresh eating cucumbers, pickles, ferments, salads & more!

I am hoping for a good harvest from this 10 foot row in late summer to early autumn.
