A concert pianist once told me that performance doesn’t really begin until ‘something goes wrong’. That is when you truly come to life in response to the unexpected. At the start of this run I was expecting a moment for some chilled slow flow though the DJ clearly had other ideas. But the surprise game of keeping up with the changing music ended up being a lot of fun. Warming up my birthday the only way I can imagine - by shuffling. I became physically fit after I lost my dad. At first I saw training as a distraction from the grief but then I understood it as his final gift to me. I then took up dance (very) late in life to celebrate my mum’s continuing determination to live through her illness. She had a few ballet lessons as a small child and the memory has stayed with her always and somehow formed an important part of her identity. I am grateful to the world of dance and all who have let me into it. Don’t waste a precious step. Dance for life. #shuffle #shuffledance #goodvibes by @bearded_shuffler
