Forgot to share that I caught This is Lorelei a couple weeks ago. The show was great. Jawdropped kicked it off with a terrific set. So glad they played “Whiplash.” What a track. As for Lorelei, the new songs sounded great, with a little more punch than on the record. They pulled out the best Box for Buddy songs, too. I was initially underwhelmed by the new record, but it’s really got its hooks in me now. by @beast_out_76

I always need to warm up to Nate Amos projects for some reason. I have often liked other people covering his songs more than the originals. I was surprised by the sound of this one, but there are a lot of good songs here and it does open up on repeat listens. Gives me a lot of Jon Brion and Elliott Smith. Ain’t mad. by @beast_out_76

What an incredible, emotionally charged night of music. I was lucky enough to see Jason and this band one time at The Blind Pig, and it was a revelation. Experiencing this with Teresa and Tess, who are the biggest Molina fans I know, is a now-treasured memory. by @beast_out_76

Very special night! Secretly Group is celebrating 30 years here this weekend. Last night, Magnolia Johnson Electric Co. tore it up. Three hours of the key Molina tracks, as played by Will Johnson and Molina’s band mates over the years. It was an emotional night. Cathartic to hear those songs live. I was lucky enough to see Molina and band once at The Blind Pig, and it was a revelation. Here’s a taste.

It will never be the same without JM, but the love in the room and his lasting legacy keep on. Made me feel like it’s time to pull out all those records. It’s been too long. by @beast_out_76
