In 2023 I was still struggling to finish beats and felt pretty stagnate as a producer
This year I’ve been learning bass, a bit of guitar/singing, all while finishing 2 beats a week for the last month & working on covers.
I know how hard producing can get, I made my first beat 6 years ago and only started feeling things really clicking in the last few months. I’m so hyped 👌🏾
A big part of this is thanks to @brokenenglishprod beatmaking program for getting my ass in gear ——> beatstore opening in May

Here’s a beat I made today on the train and a great view of the back of people’s heads at Mick Jenkins

Started learning bass in January, it’s helped my music production a crazy amount already, even got my caveman drummer brain into more melody/bassline focused music.
Here’s my recreation of Neva CHange - Schoolboy Q

Big thanks to @ianstuartcookson for laying down the guitar

learning to DJ in the lockdowns gave me something fun to do when I didn’t want to make music, it also helped me improve the structure of my beats, got me DJ gigs and into new genres of music

I save all my projects with the key & bpm, I’ve got hundreds of half done projects so sometimes I’ll merge some of these together to try and make a complete beat 👍🏾

Having a ‘Focus Project’ really helps me, while I may be working on a few beats at a time, there’s always only one that I choose as the next one to finish and dedicate the most time to

Having a goal or an idea before making a track has helped me a lot, for this one I wanted to experiment with some DnB breakbeats for the second half

Gonna try n come up with a more interesting way to post these but this is definitely one of my recent favourites I’ve made
Beatmaking Tip: letting go of perfectionism is something I’ve recently got a bit better at, it’s easy to compare yourself to others n find all the ways your tracks aren’t as good but letting go of trying to make something good and focusing on having fun with it lead me to make better music 🤷🏾‍♂️
