Finally… Infinite Dreams live. 🤯❤️

A song I’ve waited so long to witness in person, and it was everything I hoped it would be.

Beautiful, haunting, powerful… one of those Iron Maiden songs that goes far beyond heavy metal. The melodies, the atmosphere, the lyrics, the build-up… absolutely incredible live.

Some songs you want to hear live.

Some songs you need to hear live.

Infinite Dreams was one of those for me. Bucket list moment unlocked. 🤘

Thank you, Iron Maiden. Thank you, Chicago. 🇬🇧🤘🇺🇸

Metallica are kicking off their Sphere residency in Las Vegas tomorrow. It will be so good to finally see the Four Horsemen with a stage show again after the long M72 tour cycle with the donut stage!

Who here is attending one of the Sphere shows?

🤘 40 YEARS OF SOMEWHERE IN TIME 🤘

On September 29, 1986, Iron Maiden released Somewhere in Time.

But my story with this album starts almost exactly a year later.

September 1987.

I was 11 years old and had just started 6ème in France, 6th Grade in the US. New school, new faces. None of us really knew anyone yet.

I’d just made a new friend and one lunchtime we walked up to the market above our school. There was a guy there selling T-shirts, and one of them stopped us dead.

It had the Somewhere in Time album cover on it.

We had absolutely no idea who Iron Maiden were.

But THAT ARTWORK. 🤯

We were completely blown away by it. My friend bought the shirt immediately.

I went home that evening and walked down to the local newsagent. I asked the guy behind the counter:

“Do you have anything about Iron Maiden?”

He handed me a copy of Hard Rock magazine.

Okay… so Iron Maiden was a band. 😂

I told my friend and the investigation began.

Eventually we found someone who had an Iron Maiden cassette he was willing to lend us:

LIVE AFTER DEATH.

We put it on.

WOW.

That was it.

I took my pocket money, went to the record store and bought two cassettes:

⚡ Somewhere in Time
⚡ Live After Death

And the rest is history.

39 years later, I’m still here.

Hundreds of albums. Countless concerts. Thousands of hours listening to music. And eventually BeatTheRiff itself.

All because two 11-year-old kids saw the Somewhere in Time artwork on a T-shirt at a market and wondered what the hell Iron Maiden was.

Somewhere in Time became the album that got me into music, and Iron Maiden became, and still is, the greatest band of all time to me.

And somehow, all these years later, this crazy journey even gave me something that 11-year-old kid with his cassettes could never have imagined:

a friend in Nicko McBrain. ❤️🥁

Funny how one tiny moment can change the course of your life.

Mine started with Somewhere in Time.

Happy 40th anniversary to the album that started it all. 💙💛

35 YEARS AGO TODAY 🤘

On September 28, 1991, Pantera took the stage at the legendary Monsters of Rock at Tushino Airfield in Moscow.

Hundreds of thousands of people, Pantera at the beginning of their rise, and a performance that became part of metal history. That footage, especially the absolutely crushing performance of “Domination,” remains one of the most iconic live moments ever captured.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t there. I would have to wait more than 33 years to finally experience Pantera live for the first time.

That moment finally came on February 13, 2025, in Zurich.

Of course, it could never be the same without Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, but finally hearing those songs live, with Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown alongside Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante, was something I had waited decades for.

35 years after Moscow, that legendary performance still hits just as hard. 🤘🔥

Bruce Dickinson is not only one of metal’s best vocalist ever, he is also the embodiment of the perfect charismatic frontman.

The way Bruce commands the stage and the aidience is unmatched.

@brucedickinsonhq also makes the stage works around him!

Here are a few shots from the Chicago show highlighting this power he holds 😜

What is your favorite Bruce moment? Who else do you see as such a powerful frontman?

Epic drumming and masterful shredding from Dirk Verbeuren and Dave Mustaine during Megadeth’s set in Chicago.

Who else was there?
