Beauty Pill is a shapeshifting band from Washington, DC.
Beauty Pill “Describes Things As They Are” reissue available now.
POSTS STORIES REELS
This is a reminder that Beauty Pill’s Bandcamp catalogue is rich with good music and strong, artful designs. And our records make excellent Christmas gifts if you know someone you think is cool. Our records are crafted with care. Two examples shown here: The “Instant Night” 12” single. An “invisible” record designed by the brilliant @nora_mckelvey. It’s entirely see-through. We have collaborated with Nora on several records and her elegant aesthetic and exacting execution always take my breath away. I love her. Very proud of this release. The “Blue Period” anthology, designed by DC punk genius @ryancarrollnelson, who was a member of the band. This album is about to sell out of its limited edition pressing. There are only 3 copies left, believe it or not! Go to beautypill.bandcamp.com. (Link in bio.) by @beautypill
These photos of “Describes Things” shared by @digitallofi, who just received it in the mail. I care a lot about design as a mode of expression. “Describes” was designed by @nora_mckelvey. I love everything about it and I feel that it fully reflects the character of the music. “Describes” is currently available in a double vinyl edition from my own label, Findings. This album changed my life and I hope people continue to discover it. by @beautypill
Extremely excited to announce Beauty Pill will play the Big Ears music festival in Knoxville TN this Spring, marking our return to live performance. Our last show was with Laurie Anderson five years ago. We could not be more thrilled to be invited. Beauty Pill once did a black box surround-sound residency at Artisphere, a museum in Arlington VA. The project was called Immersive Ideal. Every night of the residency sold out and the experience was positive for band and audience alike. We have very fond memories of this and wish to do it again. We are bringing the Immersive Ideal experience to Big Ears. (Also, we have completed a new album. More on that soon.) by @beautypill
Beauty Pill has been practicing at night in a children’s music school. We practice after hours so we never see the kids, but we can feel their spirit. We’re surrounded by children’s instruments and a general “playhouse” vibe. It’s inspiring. We’re very grateful to the school for allowing us to do this. I’m not gonna tag the school in this post because I don’t wanna draw attention if it’s unwelcome. Anyway, to the school: thank you! The time and space is invaluable. To everyone else: We’ll have some exciting news to share very soon. by @beautypill
Hi friends, We are going to screen two short films on October 3rd at the amazing Lost Origins gallery to kick off their DCentric filmmakers showcase. Both of these films feature music from the super sexy and talented Chad Clark. There will also be an awkward Q&A and snacks and drinks. It’s a free screening but reserve tickets so we know how many people are coming. ❤️ (link in bio) by @beautypill

Lunch with my stepmother today. “Some people say my dog looks like me,” I tell her. “Really?” she says. “Yeah.” I show her this photo on my phone and she laughs her ass off. by @beautypill

Goodbye to the most tender, eloquent, humble, tortured, generous, lovely gentleman I know. Tim Bailey now. Tim Bailey forever.♥️ @timothybaileyandthehumans by @beautypill
A vintage shot of yours truly from the first BP photo session. “Cigarette Girl From The Future” era. This facial expression was an attempt to capture the tenets of the music: a blend of skepticism, bemusement, disgust, apprehension and curiosity. #beautypill #cigarettegirlfromthefuture by @beautypill
Came across an old Tape Op interview. I stand by it. Discernment is key. by @beautypill
