-ย My Acne journey - I was apprehensive about posting these photos just because it brings back a time of vulnerability as acne flare-ups always knocks down my confidence. I have suffered from acne since I was 12 and I have had my up and down moments with my skin ever since ๐Ÿฅบ ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€โš•๏ธlast Jan my acne flared up again with cystic acne, whiteheads, blackheads, large pores and a lot of scaring. Given it was the peak of the pandemic getting an appointment with a derm was a no go, so the best the GP could do for me was prescribe me Lymecycline Antibiotics. ๐Ÿ’Š Lymecycline works to kill bacteria by stopping them making the proteins that they need to survive. I noticed an improvement in my skin a couple of months after taking this, and took this for about 9 months in total, my skin did get more dry whilst on this so moisturising is key. In autumn time I had to come of these as I developed a stomach infection calledย helicobacter pylori, one reason could be due to taking long-term antibiotics, as this can disrupt your microbiome and cause stomach issues, but of course the infection may have risen due to many other factors too ๐ŸงดAlongside takingย Lymecycline I also used @facetheory 15% Azelaic acid and then moved on to Skinoren 20% Azelaic acid (prescription only), Azeliac acid is one of the few acids that my sensitive skin can tolerate and I am so glad as its a hero ingredient that helped reduce my acne as well as acne scarring, congestion and overall skin texture.ย  ๐Ÿ“ธ As you can see from the before and after photos both these products have helped my acne/acne scarring improve. Unfortunately, since coming of Lymecycline my acne is slowly returning andย I personally do not want to take it again any time soon. Acne has been a battle I am trying to overcome not just physically of how I look but mentally too. I remember the days I use to not leave my house for days/weeks because of it but I am slowly trying to accept that its perfectly normal to have good and bad days and not to let acne control my mindset ๐Ÿ’œ Left : Jan 2021, Right: Dec 2021 ๐Ÿ‘‰Next steps - I have started Tretinion - will update on the upcoming months.ย  #facetheory #skinoren #azelaicacid #lymecycline by @beautypuzzled
