The Dunes Course at The Country Club of New Seabury @theclubatnewseabury | Cape Cod, MA

A hidden gem on the Cape. Even better wearing @shopcadets

New Seabury has two 18-hole courses, but they almost feel like four different 9s. The Ocean Course gets most of the attention, with its seaside holes overlooking Nantucket Sound. It was famously dubbed the “Pebble Beach of the East” by U.S. Open champion Francis Ouimet. But don’t overlook the Dunes.

The Dunes is half a step behind its more famous neighbor, but the conditions are pure, the property is beautiful, and there are some seriously good golf holes.

The opening nine is the highlight. The dogleg-right par 5 3rd is an absolute beauty, the par 3 7th looks straight out of a golf magazine, and the downhill par 4 9th, with the clubhouse in the background, is my favorite on the course.

Rolling hills, tree-lined fairways, and a feeling that you’ve completely forgotten where you are. Just you and the golf course.

The back nine is a little less memorable, with four sub-330-yard par 4s in a row that make it feel like the property is running out of room. But even at just over 6,000 yards, the par 70 plays fair without feeling toothless. Some of those shorter holes have enough trouble around the greens to keep things interesting.

Overall, an absolute beauty. Put it on your Cape Cod golf list.

It’s a private club, but stay-and-play options through the on-site condos and inn can offer a way to get out.

Hidden gem. Don’t sleep on it.
