Yesterday, I read comments under a video that made my blood boil.
2 boys and a girl were on a ride. I’d say the boys were maybe between 10/12 years old.
The girl was laughing and didn’t seem scared at all before the ride drops into a free fall but both boys were crying and absolutely terrified.

This is what made me so disappointed as I thought in 2026 we had come much further from this.
Almost every comment was bagging out these boys.
Along the lines of calling these boys ‘whimps’ or ‘sooks’. Even calling the boys parents out for raising such ‘weak’ boys.
Are we not trying to change the narrative that males have to be the strongest and bravest gender?
Are we not fixing this whole males can’t show emotions or vulnerability crap?
Boys have been brought up generation after generation being told that having emotions makes you weak or a pussy and that crying is for girls.
As a result boys picked up from the men in their lives that the only emotion acceptable to show is anger.
Punch something, that’s manly.
Assert your dominance, be the alpha. Swear, spit and smash something.
Anger and aggression were what you’d see from your dad or sporting hero’s.
Males being vulnerable with how they felt were shamed. ‘Toughen up mate’ ’harden up’ so they suppressed it.

With all that, we can’t be surprised that suicide rates in Australia are made up of 76% being males.
Raising vulnerable and emotional boys is so important. Not only for their sake but also for their mates to know they can be vulnerable too.
