As conversation fades and it becomes drained, does a delicate cup grieve the way it was once overflowing? Does it remain useful since what it once held so intimately is no longer in need? When it sits untouched and empty from absence, does it feel sorrow’s unwanted presence? Too weary to gather the strength to be filled, it rests in the hope that one day it will. Since the cup cannot fill itself to the brim, an unexpected reliance begins, and there’s less of a focus on the lack that’s within. Though it still grieves what it once had known, again, the cup is filled by ways other than its own, wondering if there’s purpose in the ebb awaiting the flow. “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 by @bec_lansford

take a stroll inside my mind by @bec_lansford
Today, in class, the professor proposed the question: “If you died today and realized there is no Jesus, what would you do? How would you feel after wasting your time leading people to someone who does not exist?” For a second, I was stunned and a flash of doubt crossed my mind. In my head, I responded with the obvious answer: “Well, I would be dead, I wouldn’t know any different. I would have no thoughts, just darkness.” However, after additional thought I came to realize my true answer. I don’t need to ask “when I die…,” because I have already passed from death to life through the historically proven blood of Jesus Christ (John 11:25-26). I have witnessed divine things far beyond my simple understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). I have experienced unmeasurable love that cannot be from this temporary world (1 Cor. 13:1-13). And I have placed my faith in the promises made by the one who intricately fabricated every fragment of my existence (Romans 4:13-25, 5:1-5). Instead of doubting and asking ourselves the first question, we should propose a new question: “If I were to die today, did I use my day to glorify the One who created it?” Did I make the active decision to choose love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control, even in the most difficult circumstances? Or did I choose the works of my flesh, consisting of moral impurity, idolatry, hate, jealousy, anger, and selfishness? Why question the One who is undeniably true, when we should be questioning our own complacency? A real life altering question is: “Am I living like every second is a gift? Or am I looking ahead to what I am going to achieve in my worldly future, a future that may never exist outside of my imagination?” Instead, turn your attention to the One who is unwavering and will undoubtedly be anticipating your homecoming if you’ve placed your faith in Him alone (Revelation 21:3-4). by @bec_lansford
Fishes and loaves, a basic meal for a remarkable piece of Jesus’ redeeming plan. I was familiar with John 6, however, I never paid attention to the vital details of the passage. In this chapter, the attention is drawn to Jesus, His disciples, and the overwhelming number of hungry people. However, this morning, my focus was on the little boy. The one who namelessly and humbly served others with his small meal. The boy’s basket carried the weight of much more than just a few loaves of bread and a couple of fish. The boy’s basket held a lasting implication on human history. The boy saw a simple meal, in turn, the Lord saw thousands of hearts impacted and lives redeemed. Much like the crowd, I too neglected one of the central characters. Through this, the Lord taught me several things. This boy provided the focal point for one of the most significant sermons Jesus preached, yet we don’t even know his name. Even though the boy handed over his fishes and loaves, Jesus is the one who provided for the thousands. This one boy in a sea of people was chosen by God to give up the little he held in his hands. From this, we can know full-well we are never lost in the crowd. We are never looked over. God knows where we are in life, what we have to offer, and how we can be used in every situation. It is amazing to me, we will never know how each person will be used by God. Do not underestimate the ways the Lord can use you and the people around you. Lastly, we are never without anything to offer. Jesus could have provided for the thousands before Him with just one loaf and one fish. This is a reminder the Lord’s faithfulness does not rely on us and what we can provide. He can do eternally divine things with the tiny fragments of our lives. Even still, we may even ask “there’s only five barley loaves and two fish - but what are they for so many?” What are the fishes and loaves you are currently holding in your hands, while asking “will this ever be enough?” by @bec_lansford
