To my friends & family who made sobriety feel normal,
I love you more than you know 🤍

Today, 712 days alcohol-free
And I think the thing that makes me most emotional isn’t actually the number of days ~
It’s the people who have walked beside me through it

Because when I stopped drinking, my friends didn’t make me feel like I was missing out at all

They adapted

Quietly

Beautifully

It was the friend who said,

“Babe , I won’t drink if you don’t”

It was the invitation for a coffee and a walk instead

The text saying,

“There’ll be sparkling mineral water”
Or,
“Can I grab you a flavoured mineral water?”

It was arriving at multiple 40th birthday parties & events, seeing a bottle of sparkling AF champagne waiting for me and others who prefer no alcohol,
And someone simply offering me a glass

No fuss

No questions

No pressure

Just love 🥹

It was the side eye across the room offering ‘Would you like one or no?’ and then that simple nod & smile that made me so seen 🤍

And here’s the thing… I don’t mind what’s in your glass, I can be around alcohol, I can watch people drink and be totally fine

Thank God - I don’t feel tempted to drink at all
Somewhere along the way, the bottle shop, the champagne, the drinking…

It just disappeared from my mind completely
And honestly? I LOVE that ! !

But what has meant the world to me, is the way my closest people have embraced the changes and decisions I’ve made

My friends never made me feel difficult,
They’ve never made my choice of sobriety awkward,
They’ve simply loved me where I am at

And I get teary thinking about it because I know how incredibly blessed I am 🥹

I’m so grateful to God for breaking this habit.

712 days later…
I don’t feel like I’ve lost something, in fact I feel like I’ve been given part of my life back

The peace of mind, being truly present in the moment and remembering every conversation. Waking up the next morning ~ no sore throat, a clear head and mind.

To my friends who’ve quietly loved me through it…

Wellllll… HELLOOOO 👋🏼🤍

You may or may not have seen me ~ completely disappear from social media for a whole 3 weeks… because life suddenly got VERY full!

Little life update ~
I have landed a new role working as a hairdresser, at an aged care facility close to home. It’s almost been a month and I am really enjoying it 🥰 !

There has been a whole lot of learning, adjusting as family, working and just… Full on LIVING Life

I haven’t had much energy left for my phone lately — and honestly? It has had to be somewhat okay 🥹🤍

Anyways…. I’m back

From breakage to bouncing back (I can’t even look at my before video without cringing)

If you had told me in 2022 that my hair would look and feel like this one day, I may not have believed you !

Back then my hair was dry, brittle, over-processed and constantly snapping. I would cringe every time I brushed it and felt like it would never grow past a certain length - it was that BAD !

What changed?
Curiosity got me , I swallowed my pride & bought the box of shampoo from Instagram ~
it was Not one miracle product
And it’s certainly hasn’t been an overnight transformation.

Just consistency
Learning how to care for my scalp
Being intentional with the products I have been using

Patience
Trusting the process
