There are some things I never thought I’d be strong enough to speak about publicly.

But October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and if sharing even a small part of my experience makes one woman feel less alone, then being vulnerable is worth it.

I walked away from a long term relationship that changed me in ways I didn’t fully understand while I was living through it.

For a long time, I questioned myself, my feelings, my voice, my choices, and whether I was somehow the problem.

I’m sorry to my daughter for the things she witnessed and for the moments that became part of her childhood when they never should have been. I’m sorry she saw a version of me who was struggling to find her way back to herself.

I spent months too scared to even leave my house, since the relationship ended.

Today, I stand tall for her.
Because I’m still here.
People often see the woman with the biggest smile and have absolutely no idea how hard she fought to wear it.

So please, never be embarrassed by your journey. Never be ashamed of the chapters that nearly broke you. And never believe that struggling to leave makes you weak.

Going through this has made me even more loyal, compassionate and understanding.

It means believing people when they speak.
It means not minimising what they’ve experienced.
It means showing compassion instead of judgement.

And if you can knowingly support, excuse or be dismissive of anyone, who can hurt a woman and child, then you don’t need to be part of my life.

I spent too long worrying about what people might think of my story. Especially knowing that people can form opinions based on what they hear from someone else, without ever knowing what was happening behind closed doors or hearing my side.

I don’t anymore.

I survived it.
I’m rebuilding.
I’m raising my daughter.
And I’m standing here stronger than the woman I once thought I had lost forever.

There is a life on the other side.

If you’re going through it, please know you are not weak, you are not alone, and you are not defined by what happened to you.

Father’s Day weekend can be a reminder for so many children what’s missing in their home life’s & it can be difficult as a parent to watch your child be uncomfortable through that process.

55 women that mean so much to me, in one room fundraising for such a special cause @thelongesttable

Yesterday was such a beautiful day, thankyou so much ladies, the support, love, kindness & generosity in the room was beyond amazing.

Thankyou, to @parisisrestaurant for hosting an amazing event for us, our MC, speakers & DJ @sophievedwards @cfmummy @tommytequiladj @paula_vidale & @miavidale

For so many of my beautiful friends who supported me with donations, sponsorship and filling tables, I special mention to @alexia_fifiv @leahdiamanti_fry @aph985 @jos_hutchinson @coltoria - not to mention @_jesswhosback_ flying in for the day.

Women are strong, courageous, empowering & amazing - if life has taught me anything it’s that women are a force not to be reckoned with, I appreciate every single one of you who made the effort to be there yesterday.
