One Year at Becca. Best year of my life. Most free, most challenging, and I felt like I could do it all! When the lovely Veralucia walked me to my salon suite on July 4th 2025 she said let me take you to your salon. I knew it was mine the moment I laid eyes on it and the moment my spirit said yes. As an Italian American woman with deep spiritual and intuitive roots, i listened to my gut. The support from my incredible clients who have become family and close friends, all of the badass beauty business owners @salonsbyjc_downtownbrooklyn
has kept me going strong. THANK YOU NEW YORK CITY. LETS GROW THIS BUSINESS. 🥂 #femaleownedbusiness #brooklynhaircuts

Want softer, healthier hair without the frizz?

If you have curly hair, wavy hair, thick hair, or coarse hair, a cleansing conditioner (also known as a co-wash) might be the missing step in your hair care routine.

Unlike traditional shampoo, a cleansing conditioner gently cleanses your scalp while helping your hair retain its natural moisture. That means less dryness, less frizz, and more defined curls and waves.

In this video, I’m showing you exactly how to use a co-wash for healthier, more manageable hair.

Why people love co-washing:
✓ Helps reduce frizz
✓ Keeps hair hydrated
✓ Enhances natural curls and waves
✓ Prevents over-drying from frequent shampooing
✓ Makes air-drying easier and more predictable

The key is to apply it directly to your scalp and massage thoroughly, just like shampoo. Rinse well, and you’re done.

For best results, use a cleansing conditioner as your primary cleanser and incorporate a traditional shampoo occasionally for a deeper cleanse.

My favorites:
• Re.Store by Kevin Murphy
• New Wash by Hairstory

Have you tried co-washing before, or are you still using traditional shampoo every wash?

A Marc Bolan special on this cool cat. I sculpt and budge each curl to bounce and dance on my clients’ faces. I have been cutting curly hair for 10 years now and I’m more curious about it, every time. I used @kevin.murphy body builder mousse to add hold and volume to each curl.

My lovely client Saara runs Redhook Farms. A youth centered urban agriculture and food justice program that harvests 5,000+ pounds of produce each year! #redhookfarms Check them out!

Proud of her for making this big haircut transformation. She has wavy, coarse hair hailing from the beautiful #Iran I always recommend that my clients with this hair texture use a co-wash especially this time of year. Co-washes use your natural oils to clean dirt and residue off of your hair, instead of stripping them out. Coarser hair will have less frizz, more wave, and shine.
