Ok ok at last I am ready to process my feelings through an Instagram post. 12 days ago we wrapped filming on my feature-length directorial debut, The Kingdom of Rexmonte. There are swords and knights and magic and horses but beneath it all I wrote this script from my soul. These characters are all the best and worst parts of all the people I love, and their stories are not so far off from my own journeys through this life. Since I was 8 years old nothing has mattered to me as much as making movies. It’s the one thing I have always known I was meant to do, so there really are no words to express the gratitude I have for the cast and crew that made this dream come alive. Somehow I want them all to know how much I love and cherish them and our time together on this set. Their talents amazed and inspired me every single day and it has been such a profound gift to build this creation alongside them. They have made me a better filmmaker and a better person. I can’t believe how lucky I am and how much I have been transformed. We went through hell and back to tell this story and despite it all, dammit we pulled it off. And it’s like, really awesome. And I’m so proud of it. And so, so proud of our team. In theory this was absolutely nutso but we really did that!!!!!!! For every hardship there were even more moments of beauty, leaps of growth, bursts of laughter, and creative sparks flying all over the place and I will forever hold these memories close to my heart. Thank you Steve and Yami for capturing these precious moments in time. @s.huashuayo @_____yami_ Thank you to my mom for raising me on the Turner Classic Movies channel and for believing in me and my delusions enough to continuously push me to make them into real life. We are fcking lunatics. And of course, thank you God for these blessings, thank you God for these people, and thank you God for cinema 🎬I’ll be chasing this high for the rest of my life@crabtreepictures @thekingdomofrexmonte by @beccah_treecrab
