Halfway there. 🏔️

Yesterday I officially reached 24 of 48 New Hampshire 4,000-footers, and somehow, the mountain that marked my halfway point wasn’t even planned.

My first 4,000-footer was Mount Liberty. 6 years ago, I had no idea then how much this journey would become a part of my life. Yesterday, I set out to hike Mount Adams via Kings Ravine, with no plans of doing Madison. But somewhere along the way I decided to keep going. One mountain turned into two, and suddenly I was standing on my 24th peak. Ironically my middle name is Madison, so this made my halfway point pretty fitting.

To make the day even more memorable, 48 flags were raised across the NH48 mountains, this was my second time being apart of Flags on the 48. Making for another unforgettable part of the day. Before fleeing home, we got to view the 9/11 memorial lights that were displayed from Mt. Washington. Such an incredible sight even with a heavy heart looking up at the sky.

It’s hard to put into words what this journey has become for me. 24 mountains, countless miles, early mornings, long drives, hard climbs, beautiful views, and a lot of moments where I questioned myself. But somewhere along the way, the mountains became more than just a list to finish.

Yesterday felt like a reminder of why I started.

24 down. 24 to go.
