Hi, everyone! I wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself 😊

I’m Becca! I live in NE Ohio with my husband, 2 kids, 3 cats, 2 dogs, 2 horses (a zoo, TBH 😅)

I’m a business owner, occupational therapist, cat person, mood reader, and love to travel!

I wanted to update my introduction as I no longer do star ratings and instead give my thoughts at a glance and in depth.

I’m so happy to be here and love meeting fellow book (and cat) lovers! I enjoy chatting and hosting giveaways so thank you for being here! 💜

Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries

🧚‍♀️Summary: Emily Wilde is a brilliant professor; she is a leading, meticulous researcher of faeries and is working on the world’s first encyclopaedia of faerie lore. She understands faeries and their culture and customs on a deeper level. What she does not understand, is people. When she has difficulty breaking into the small village of Hrafnsvik while on location in her pursuit of the Hidden Ones (the most elusive of all faeries, who have been taking villagers) when her nemesis, fellow professor Wendell Brambleby waltzes into town and charms everyone to his side. While she’s on the trail of the Hidden Ones, she uncovers a few more mysteries, including the feeling that there is much more to Wendell than he is letting on.

🧚‍♀️My thoughts

At a glance: cozy and charming, Emily is one of my new favorite literary characters; I loved it.

In depth: I was very charmed from the start. I loved Emily and her logic driven mind, immense bravery, and frank communication. I also loved how she fully understood Wendell and he fully understood (and appreciated her for who she is) her. This was one of those books I found myself looking foward to picking up again and, when it was over, looking forward to the next one in the series. It also had strong Howl’s Moving Castle vibes, which was a big bonus for me (it is one of my favorite books).

🧚‍♀️Reminds me of: the fact that maybe Wendell and Wizard Howl are related?

🧚‍♀️Read this if: you like cozy fantasy and lovely characters.

💌BOOK MAIL💌

I was so thrilled to be accepted as an official ambassador for @booksparks 2026 fall reading challenge: Practical Book Magic 2: Book Sparks After Dark. I received this beautiful book mail (a mood ring and a velvet choker!? My millennial heart swooned) as well as my first book, All My Sisters and Me by @sheryllister ♥️ The cover is gorgeous and I can’t wait to jump in!

You Had Me at Meow
By: Gracie James

🐈Summary: After a disastrous first date and a heavy bonk on the head, Abby discovers her cat, Mr. Whiskers, can speak. Words. Out loud. And he has LOTS of opinions on everything from her marketing position, to the quality of his wet food, her terrible boss, and her dating life, among other things.

She quickly discovers that he might have some good insight and finds out what happens when her cat becomes her furry life coach.

🐈‍⬛My thoughts:

At a glance: Charming and funny; I liked it.

In depth: This one is a must read for anyone owned by a cat. There were several times where I giggled or laughed out loud at how well this author understands cats. Mr. Whiskers was snarky and sweet, funny and wise; the epitome of a cat. I also *loved* buddy reading this book with my fellow cat lovers; @ellasenchantedreads @juliesbooknook @@genres.with.jules @@booksandcats30 @bookswithqueenbean @the.book.sage @fiction.with.melissa <3

🐈Reminds me of: the fact that if my cats could talk I’m sure they would have a LOT to say.

Tress of the Emerald Sea
By: Brandon Sanderson

🦠Summary: Tress lives on a small island, collects cups, and spends her time with her friend Charlie. When Charlie is sent away, across the dangerous spore seas, and disaster strikes, Tress regrets never having told Charlie how she really felt. She sets off on a mission to recover him, leaving her island for the first time in her life, to reach the dangerous sorceress on the Midnight Sea, an adventure no one has returned from (so far).

🦠My thoughts:

At a glance: I thought it was funny at first but then it wore on me; this one wasn’t for me.

In depth: I really enjoyed buddy reading this with @monika.reads! I know this author is beloved and have never read any of his books so was looking forward to checking this one out. I enjoyed the sarcastic humor at first, but then felt the story got somewhat convoluted. The pacing didn’t work for me and I found myself feeling tired of and needing a break from the chaos. I felt that the story quickly ended after quite a long, complicated journey to reach the climax.

🦠Reminds me of: the fact that there are different strokes for different folks!

🦠Read this if: you want to learn more about the spore seas, I found that part fascinating!

🥔Currently building and currently listening to🥔

Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett and Not That Kind of Proposal by Victoria Lavine on audiobook kept me company while I finished up the Lego Shire (the scene from Bilbo’s eleventy first birthday). I love building Legos and listening to audiobooks and was thrilled with this set (there are pumpkins and tiny cabbages!!) and these books (Emily Wilde was particularly a good fit for this specific set)!

📚Summary: Gemma Brown is finally starting to settle in to a life that feels like her own after she moves to the Cotswolds and starts a small bookstore in the corner of the new local shop, that she fills with her favorite mystery novels. After a disastrous venture into baking a cake, she begins baking lessons with Ursula, a mysterious neighbor that emerges to win the bake off every year and then fades into the background again. When Gemma starts noticing suspicious things in Ursula’s house and she begins to wonder if she is Soviet spy, she wavers between trusting her instincts and wondering if all of the Agatha Christie novels are clouding her judgement.

📚My thoughts:

At a glance: Interesting and historical, with fascinating characters; I really liked it.

In depth: This is one of those books that I read with a tab open on my computer! I love historical fiction and this is a great example of fascinating historical fiction. Once the story got into the thick of it, I had a hard time putting it down. The characters were layered and compelling and I really enjoyed getting to know all of them and how they were all interlaced. I loved the author’s note at the end as well, definitely don’t skip it!

📚Reminds me of: the fact that I love historical fiction.

📚Read this if: you are interested in fictional stories of historical figures you may not have heard of.

Whew! Sorry for disappearing, friends! After a slew of DNFs and a major reading slump, I just finished Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett and loved it (major Howl’s Moving Castle vibes which is a big plus for me) and this quote caught my attention. I completely agree with Emily here and always appreciate direct communication as long as it’s the facts and not purposefully hurtful.

🏒My thoughts: I personally think Katie Bailey and Leah Brunner are the dream team and am hoping they collaborate on more books and/or series. I loved Rookie Season, Rival Season, and Rebel Season and am sad to see the series end! If you love hockey romance and MMCs that are goofy with a serious streak and a heart of gold, this series is for you.
